Nishinomiya doesn't have the brash glitz of Osaka or the cool sophistication of Kobe, but it's still a damn good place to live.

Only 15 minutes from the centers of the two cities, those of us here have the best of both worlds, without the drawbacks.

After all, who wants the smog and congestion when there are cleaner beaches, shopping, nice restaurants, and open space here?

Getting around is a breeze with a scooter. I was able to zip around town and commute to work in no time at all. Sometimes I was a little
too fast, though. Just ask the traffic cops. Who knew the speed limit for those things is 30km/h? And what's the point if they can easily go 50km/h?

Anyway, I started a garden while I was here and was successful at growing sunflowers, morning glories, aloe, and other plants. My friends suggested other things for the garden, but with the neighbors' cats running around all over the place, I had to plant things which wouldn't be missed.
