During my years at Sun
Microsystems I wrote various software and technical articles to
illustrate Java technology. As a technology demo for the JavaOne
conference, some colleagues built a tank arena using Lego Mindstorm kits.
Conference attendees controlled these tanks using Palm PDAs running Java
applets. I wrote a tank arena simulation using Java 3D, which mimiced the
movements of the actual Lego tanks based on electronic signals from their
wheels and bumpers. Here is one of my 3D models from the demo.
