Places to Stay

(Here is a converted Word doc partially translated)

Here is a link to the St. Romain Hotel where we are having the reception.

Reduced rate chain hotels in France - English version is not working too well. French version

If you want to stay in the village of Trévoux: Hotel Belles Rives and Hotel des Voyageurs from HotelRoomsPlus.com, also see InterHotel.com Look under Ain for Trévoux and Rhone for Villefranche or Lyon.

You should make sure your passport is renewed at least two months before you leave.  The post office says it takes 6 weeks to get a new passport.

Credit cards should work in almost as many places as the US, but it would be good to have some cash on hand, which is easy to get from an ATM.  Important NOTE:  Your pin must be exactly 4 digits to be accepted at an ATM in Europe.

We were looking at Travelocity and Orbitz for good prices, but a few people have told us that travel agents have given them special deals, especially travel agencies that specialize on travel to Europe.

Trévoux and the area will be warm but we might get some surprising showers and it can get a little chilly in the evening at this time of the year, plenty of cherry in the trees, everything green all around, you might almost feel like you are in New England.

Trévoux is very close to the Alps and Switzerland.  The Alps are one of the most beautiful part of France, and if you feel like driving to Chamonix (about two hours and a half, all highway), you can go check out the Mont Blanc, the highest point over in France, and maybe Europe  (~4,800.00 meters). There is a cable car type of thing going up to a "needle" very close to Mont Blanc and the view from there is one of the most wonderful. The other great place to go from Trévoux is Provence (it is a region), here the drive is between two to four hours.
