Forgotten Angel

I could have been an angel princess
A little girl's discarded dream
Fantasy throttled from her mind
Left floating along a putrid stream

Her wings battered; worn
Broken with fatherly scorn
Her hope shattered; torn
No hope for a better morn'

I could have been the angel queen
A little girl's forgotten wish
No use for dreaming in this life
When you're nothing but a bastard's bitch

Her wings battered; worn
Broken by the elders scorn
Her hope shattered; torn
Shredded with no room to mourn

Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unresisting to your fate
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unrelenting with your hate
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unrepentant behind your mask
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unrelaxing at your task
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unreleased from your inner cell
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unseeing that this is not divine will

I could have been an angel goddess
A little girl's most wont desire
No support for her dishevelled wings
To raise her from her earthbound fire

Her wings battered; worn
Broken by humanity's scorn
Her hope shattered; torn
To the vengeful hand she's sworn

Her life splintered; torn
Broken by her own self scorn
A life no one will mourn
Because another is always born

Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unresisting to your fate
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unrelenting with your hate
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unrepentant behind your mask
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unrelaxing at your task
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unreleased from your inner cell
Sleeping child; sleeping angel; unseeing that this is not divine will
