I read a lot. Whenever I have time. The last book I finished was actually by an Australian author called Brett D'Arcy. The book is called "The Book of Lonely". I recommend it to anyone who likes something a little different, ok maybe a LOT different.

My main area of interest in reading material lies in the Fantasy realm. I will give just about anything in this genre a try, but some of my favorites are:

Sara Douglass
(another Australian author, she maintains her own website)

Robin Hobb (a fantastic fantasy author, I only recently found this site so have not had a good look around it yet. The two series' I have read are the Live Ship Trilogy and The Assassin Trilogy. Both were exceptional reading material!!

Robert Jordan
(I have only read the Wheel of Time series, which is what this page is devoted to. He has numerous other works in print, but I have yet to get to them).

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (got me started on Fantasy novels. This page is one of the thousands devoted to them (and quite possibly by them). There is another great site run by Tracy Hickman himself here. They both write with numerous other authors, some of which I have read, some I have yet to locate in Australia. The sheer number of books produced in the series they started is overwhelming).

Well those are the favorites, of course there and many, many others. If you ever want a recommendation, just email me and ask :)

In addition to Fantasy, I also read some Horror, of course there is only one master of this genre,
Stephen King. Well that is in my humble opinion of course. There are so many other great writers, but he is the only one I have forked out the money for a hard cover book!! In spite of writing predominantly horror books, Mr. King is in the middle of an awesome series, The Dark Tower. I cannot wait for the next installment, and know mnay others eagerly awaiting the same...

In a different vein, Stephen King's wife Tabitha is also an excellent author. Unfortunately her books are out of print here in Australia, and I will have to get around to ordering them over the net at some stage.

Prior to my addiciton to Weis and Hickman, I was an avid reader of a very very old series by Edgar Rice Burroughs (the author of Tarzan). He wrote approximately 10 books in a series about Mars and a few on other planets. In spite of my dislike for conventional Science Fiction, these books are amazing. Seek them out if you can, i am sure they are still in print. For those of you who like to stare at a computer screen, you can also read the series online
here. The first in the series is A Princess of Mars.

While you are there, you might want to check out some of the other authors predating my era of books. there are a few whose entire works you can read on line. Bizarre isn't it???
