Dear Parents, Id like to introduce myself. My name is Carter Hartung, and Im the New Member Coordinator for the Ohio Eta chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Denison University. Im a junior communication major and history minor. I play field hockey for Denison and grew up in St. Louis. I am thrilled to be the officer who helps your daughter learn about Pi Phi on her way to becoming an initiated member. Pi Beta Phi was founded in 1867 and is one of the oldest womens fraternities with more than 130 chapters in the U.S. and Canada. The Ohio Eta chapter has been on this campus since 1954. Pi Beta Phi offers your daughter a unique opportunity for personal growth through our Leading with Values member development program, which I will help guide them through throughout these next few weeks. We are proud to say that this program is founded upon Pi Phis core values Integrity, Honor, and Respect, Lifelong Commitment, Personal and Intellectual Growth, Philanthropic Service to Others and Sincere Friendship. As such, Leading with Values provides a wide array of advancement opportunities in the areas of Organizational Knowledge, Good Citizenship, Intellectual Development and Leadership Development. If youd like to learn more about Leading with Values, please visit Pi Beta Phis website at www.pibetaphi.org and click on Leading with Values. To familiarize you with the chapter life, here are a few facts about the Ohio Eta chapter. Academic support for our members includes mentoring for those in the same major, study hours, recognition and incentives. Pi Phi hopes to be able to introduce your daughter to the many opportunities she has to get involved in campus activities and the Greek System. The Ohio Eta chapter has a number of community service projects and philanthropies we participate in as a chapter in conjunction with our national service project Links to Literacy. We are supported by local alumnae advisers as well as international officers who supervise and guide all aspects of chapter life. Accompanying this is a letter from the VPF explaining the financial obligations of being a member of Pi Beta Phi. In a few weeks, youll hear from your daughters Mentor/Big Sis, a sophomore who is there to be her guide, mentor and friend during her collegiate experience. I look forward to meeting you in the future, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Sincerely, Carter Hartung New Member Coordinator Slayter Box 1091 [email protected] |
