THE HEROES OF DAGGER FALLS

Fear is a question: What are you afraid of, and why? Just as the seed of health is in illness, because illness contains information, your fears are a treasure house of self-knowledge if you explore them.
     - Marilyn Ferguson

1 - 3 Eleasias 1389 (Year of the Forgiven Foes)
The gang cut open the carrion crawler in hopes of finding something valuable, but are left disappointed. Following the minotaurs through the twisty mazes that make up this part of the Underdark, the gang stop when they hear the sounds of whips and grunting in goblin. Petro sneaks in invisibly with Mordecai's spell and returns to report there are four duergar overseeing about twenty goblins digging. The minotaurs tell them they need to pass through this area, or take another tunnel that will add at least a day in their trip. Approaching the duergar, Mordecai negotiates passage through the deep dwarves lands (though they have to give up their weapons and magic and have to wear blindfolds). He also buys food for the gang. The next 26 hours are difficult and unsettling, but they make it. Next they reach a marker showing five directions, including a drow city and goblin lands. The minotaurs lead them through the tunnel towards the Moondeep Sea, where they run into an undead crature called an Allip, which Cethric destroys. Next they approach a dilapitated bridge across a wide and deep chasm. Ely flies across with a rope and is attacked by four gargoyles. Venin rushes forward onto the bridge to help, followed by Selena and Petro. Pura sings and Rikulf throws his weapons. Cethric summons a bee. The gargoyles try to crash the bridge and Venin, Petro and Selena manage to hold on. Venin and Petro make their way across to the other side. Selena is attacked by the gargoyles, though one flees when Mordecai uses a silent image of the Allip, and Cethric uses his ability to heal from a distance. Ely flies a rope that Rikulf holds and ties Selena with it. The remaining gargoyles attack the fey investigator, rendering him unconscious. As he falls, Selena lets go of the bridge and grabs Ely as Rikulf struggles to hold them both. The boards of the bridge start to break, lowering the dangling people to the ground below. The gargoyles destroy what is left of the bridge and flee. Rikulf pulls Selena and the now stabilized Ely up. Now the gang reconstruct a bridge across the chasm, but are briefly interrupted by the arrival of a giant spider on the side Venin and Petro are on. Venin casts a web and the spider leaves. Once the bridge is complete, everyone crosses (slowly).
