The Kei Pirates are a mysterious group of criminals who trove the outer reaches of the galaxy for wealth and power. They are after Hilda in an attempt to recover the kidnapped Melfina. They also want to take control of the ship known as the Outlaw Star. The Kei Pirates' apparent leader is a wide-eyed girl with a ruthless nature and a quiet manner. Her most valued associate is an older man with a mastery of the ancient magic arts. Their enforcer is a sword-wielding giant. The Kei Pirates also employ the aid of a strange collection of deadly "ninjas." Whether they are humans or androids is unclear, but this group of killers will do anything in the service of their masters. Together with a vast assortment of vehicles and weaponry, the Kei Pirates are a force to be reckoned with.
