MY DANCE OUTFITS...
(click on thumbnail for 3x5 version and details of costume.)
Left: Same outfit on two different bodies; my version of a basic dance costume. Right: Simple top and skirt meant for festivals with cold batik hightlights on sleeves and base of skirt. Can be worn alone, with a choli vest, or with a corset for different looks. Far Right: Thrift Store vest worn over classic gomlek and salvar from outfit above.
As of now, this is my "classic" outfit.. I've danced in each of the layers and gotten wonderful comments on the outfit. I've worn it as a Turkish Rom, Classic Ottoman, and French-occupation Egyptian Streetdancer. Layers help a lot in Texas weather!
Left: My very first public outfit! Blue skirt from my practice outfit, and a geometric felt nightmare covered in batik fabric (my honey's outfit is cut from the same piece of cloth). Far Left: Blue practice top (duct tape choli!) Right: Not exactly a dance outfit, but an example of wrapped garment costume in my satyr costume for a local LARP.
Left: me modelling the ATS outfit for my first performance with my renfaire shirt underneath and bunched into the choli. Below: Me dancing at my first performance at Mirage: Night of the Rising Stars in December 1999.
Left: Me dancing at Excalibure Faire in Spring 2000; note I hadn't discovered the difference stocking make to a Classic Turkish outfit! Right: Two different (and hot!) weekends at Excalibure Faire 2001. I'd added more pieces to my Historic Collection and replaced the red and light green anteris with more flattering pieces.
