His father was a drummer with the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari and Abijah started off by hanging around his father's band and learning to play the Congo drums. tracks with several internationally renowned deejays. In more recent years, Abijah further honed his singing and performing skills with formal voice, speech as well as guitar training and
as lead singer of Krew Shall Impact band. His energetic stage performances have electrified audiences in Jamaica, Trinidad and Grand Cayman and attracted mediaattention on several occasions. He also participated in the Carib Music Expo in November 2000 and several other shows this year including the Bob Marley Festival in February. He is booked to appear on this year's International Reggae Day and Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest.

Aaron Silk

"I am Who I am"

Music is the rod and we are Moses leading God’s children to this Promised Land.  Music is the voice of his brother Aaron preaching and comforting at the Father’s command – lines from song written by Garnet Silk.

“I Am Who I Am” – profound statement made by Floyd Smith AKA Aaron Silk, on his debut album – Bless I Oh Jah.

Floyd Smith was born on January 10, 1969 in a quiet town called Downs in Manchester, Jamaica.  From the tribe of Napthali, Aaron is in the process o carving out a niche for him in this music business.

A past student of Holmwood Technical High School in Manchester.  He majored in Electrical Engineering but Music was always his love and with constant encouragement from Garnet, he decided to pursue a career in music.

His early years found him an active member of the Bethabra Moravian Youth Fellowship Choir.  He has done several performances for the annual Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Festival Parish shows and dances.

It was Garnet who was responsible for renaming Floyd to Aaron, always professing Floyd was a “pretty boy” and could sing even better than he could he constantly encouraged Aaron to take his career in entertainment seriously.

After Garnet’s departure in late ’94, Aaron’s commitment to his brother’s vision started to materialize.  He began professionally recording with Talent Corporation label.  His first track was “Show I The Way” composed by Garnet and himself.  Two other singles followed on this label “Madda Fire” and “No Competition”.  He then went to Flames Studio and recorded on the popular Lalabella Rhythm Right Path.  This song bought quite a bit of attention to the artiste getting good rotation on the airwaves in Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean.  It held the number one position in Trinidad, Canada and Bermuda.

His international performances include performances in Trinidad and Bermuda.  Major performances in Jamaica include Sting, Sumfest, and Rebel Salute.

Other singles done by Aaron include “Cease Cry Cry’, “Give It Up”, “Power of being Black” done by 321 Strong Recording.

His debut album “Bless I Oh Jah” done on the Culture Shock label owned by Executive Producer Keith Simmonds and himself.  The album is enjoying good rotation on the radio stations.  This album contains thirteen tracks.  Title track being livicated to Garnet “Bless I Oh Jah” penned by Aaron himself.

Aaron is committed to fulfilling his dream of being the singer he knows he can be.  Constant memories of Garnet’s encouragement act as a stimulant to this young singer encouraging him to he “ I Am Who I Am”.  The album has been released for the last year and is available in record stores both locally and internationally.

Look out Garnet did his leg.  Aaron is the voice of his brother, Garnet, ready to preach and comfort at the Master’s command.  We have the power to turn things around.

 I AM WHO I AM.
