Proud of Making Cantonese Stand-up Comedy in Chinatown

Lok -- I know from the very beginning this would be a question. It is hard to link up the relationship between Stand-up Comedy and Chemical Engineering. Fortunately, I did it. I don't know how... What I can say is I started performing Stand-up Comedy since 2002. That is right after meeting a group of intelligent people at one of the most famous local radio station in May of 2001. And one of these bright people is Robin. We were immediately put under the try of Stand-up. In the summer 2002, I performed for 30 minutes at one of organization in Chinatown. Robin – Mr. Robin, also known as Gorson, was born on some day, in the small town of the world. He now still lives in the world. Besides as a full time student in New York City, he was a former creative producer in DeBext Group Production and worked at a famous and local radio station, CWCB as a DJ and MC at different types of parties. He started performing Stand-up Comedy since 2002. That is right after he found himself comfortable forgoing new paths to Stand-up. He is the one who will always want to learn and change. This helps him to find out his potential being a producer of the Broadway style drama and radio style drama in 2002. He is the one who can guarantee no crappy crap and injects love, laughter, smiles and hugs around at Laugh Station into your heart within the hate, anger and violence world. Billy – Producer and comedian of DeBext Show 4, “I Love Chinatown”. Billy is also a popular DJ at AM1480. His program is on Saturday from 7am to 11am. Billy’s an energetic, well-organized and efficient person in any aspects. He was the founder of PICK, which stands for Pace Inter-Collegiate Karaoke and is a very important annual event among the universities and colleges in New York City. Participants:

 

Isabella -- Isabella is a full time pharmacist assistant and a part time DJ working at AM1480 (one of the local famous radio station). She was the runner up in the DJ contest. She starts performing Stand-up in the show called "What Sky Beneath" at Chinatown in 2003. A 40 minutes performance immediately gave a great impression to the audiences. She is the one who can make a distinction between a sense of funny and a sense of humor.

 

Barry – One of the founders of DeBext Group Production, besides Lok, Robin and Karen. Barry was a popular DJ in CWCB. He called himself the super star of the new Chinese generation.

 

Karen – Our musical director in DeBext Show 1 and 2. She is lovely, patient and energized.

       

Allen – Actor in the drama part of DeBext Show 2. Allen is a funny and handsome guy. After his first act, he got his female fans instantly.

 

Dorothy – Actress in the drama part of DeBext Show 2. Dorothy is pretty and open-minded. She also provided her “real” love story as the core of the drama.

 

Idy -- Actress in the drama part of DeBext Shoow 2. Idy is an out-going and always happy miss. She put a lot of effort to memorize the scripts since she didn’t know too many Chinese characters.

 

Ah Dee – Actor in the drama part of DeBext Show 2. Ah Dee’s handsome and very hard-working. He’s still working at Galaxy 45.

 

Red Boy – Actor in drama part of DeBext Show 2. Red Boy likes singing and performing. Although he’s totally not too good in Chinese, he still tried his best.

 

Sai Hong – Incredible friend of us. Sai Hong is a DJ in CWCB. He helped us a lot from DeBext Show 2 to DeBext Show 4. He’s the master of technical issues in the production, such as lightings and sounds. He’s also the producer of the movie part in DeBext Show 4, and he plays guitar well.

 

Angel – Smart girl! Angel participated in DeBext Show 2 as a lighting technician directed by Sai Hong. She’s also a news reporter, and plays piano very well.

 

Betty – One of the arts directors in DeBext Show 1 and 2. Betty is pretty without doubt. She studied architect and design.
