Zolana
Player Character Bio
Player: Dave P.; Campaign: Darwin's Realm
Bio written by Dave P.

Zolana
Zolana is a human woman, in her mid to upper thirties. She is of medium height and, if she properly cared for her appearance, quite attractive. Years of living the adventures life have weathered her somewhat. Zolana's memories of her earlier years are fogged by events that have occurred some time ago. If one asks her about her past she is just as likely to ignore them as she would to pull a small, razor sharp, stiletto, and, with a motion too fast to follow, slit their throat. Over time, some of the individuals that have adventured with her, and survived, have come to know that, although she is human, she was born an elf.

As a young Elf woman, Zolana felt uncomfortable with the laze-fare attitude of her Elvin folk, feeling that so-being left one vulnerable to the whims and vagaries of the fates. She also often felt as if waves of thoughts were passing through her mind, that powers sometimes were touching her brain. This further alienated her from her birth folk. Accordingly, she left and made her way to the large human city of Taska. It was here she found a belief system that provided structure and discipline.

Although not particularly religious or spiritual in her own beliefs, she found herself comfortable in the company of the worshipers of Set. It was at this time that she made the acquaintance of a young acolyte named Raco Milgo. They struck up a comfortable working relationship although she found that sometimes Raco was too focused and structured in his life. Non-the-less, they both shared a fundamental belief that structure and discipline led to power, and that this power should be used to enforce and expand structure and discipline throughout the world.

It was in this early, peaceful time, that the temple keepers, aware of her gifts and portending to the future, enlightened Zolana to the powers inherent in her mind. When Raco was sent from his temple to make his mark in the world, or die trying, Zolana accompanied him. She adapted well to the rigors and violence of an adventurers life, particularly enjoying exercising her considerable skills in combat and often seeking for herself the single encounter that, when successfully accomplished, would guarantee victory.

One day, Zolana, Raco, and a party of adventures were deep in an underground labyrinth when they encountered a Demon and it's minions. Conflict immediately ensued and, as the battle swirled around her, Zolana engaged the Demon in mental combat. Although, much more powerful than she was, her efforts required his undivided focus, allowing the party to gain the upper hand over his minions. Unfortunately, the Demon mentally vanquished her and just as the party was coming to her aid, the Demon lunged, biting and swallowed her body, before vanishing back to it's home dimension.

Working quickly, the party took one of the minions that had been struck unconscious, broke all of its legs, attached a note around it's neck, and brought it to consciousness to send back to it's master with a challenge. Come coward - finish the fight!

The Demon returned and the battle was rejoined. A lucky blow from an enchanted sword slew the Demon and the body was slit open to retrieve any of Zolana's mortal remains.

Her crushed body was removed and taken to a Druid grove and the woodland priests were persuaded to conduct a reincarnation ceremony. The result of that ceremony is the person now known as Zolana. This total experience shattered her psyche and further detached her from empathetic relationships with others. She perceives the suffering and/or death of others as completely inconsequential in achieving her goals, whatever these goals may be. The feelings and thoughts that drive her are capricious and arbitrary. That being said, her senses of focus and task completion are stronger than ever for it is that structure and discipline that she adheres to and that provides comfort in her perception of the world.

Zolana currently resides in the city of Trazarra, as a guest of the Temple of Set. In exchange for their hospitality, from time to time the temple requests various tasks be accomplished for which she is uniquely qualified. Due to the physiological nature of her body, and the passage of the years, she felt the need to give birth and is now the proud mother of twins, a boy and a girl.

Zolana will accompany adventurers if it suits her needs/desires. She will abide by her word, if such is given, but if no accord is reached ahead of time you trespass at your own peril. She uses many different weapons but prefers the longbow and stiletto.
