Raco Milgo
Player Character Bio
Player: Dave P.; Campaign: Darwin's Realm
Bio written by Dave P.

"There is no room for chaos. Life is not a game. If you think so, you lose."

Raco Milgo
Raco Milgo is a human male, with thinning hair, whose age appears to be in the mid forties. He is of average height but is broad shouldered and thick of chest. An acknowledged Priest of Set, he projects both a personal and a physical presence. Usually seen attired in dirty torn robes over heavy armor, he carries 2 bastard swords and a heavy mace. He rides a large warhorse and is accompanied with two large, gaunt hounds that smell of sulfur. Zolana has been known to travel with him but he has an aversion to some of the company she may keep from time to time.

Raco was abandoned as a baby on the steps of the Temple of Set. Whether he was meant as a sacrifice or just abandonment is not known. In any case, the acolytes took him in and he was raised as a stable slave until his early adolescence.

One day a man came to the temple stables and ordered Raco to procure and saddle his horse. Instinct told Raco that something was wrong. Bringing a horse that Raco knew belonged to one of the temple paladins, he made a display of currying and preparing it for travel, all in full view of the stranger. He then led the horse to the stranger, introducing it by a fictitious name. The stranger repeated the name and spoke to the horse using it, thus validating Raco’s gut feeling. As the stranger turned his back to Raco and made to mount the steed, Raco struck with a pitchfork. Although not immediately mortally wounded, he was severely hurt and fell to the earth. Raco finished the job by pinning him to the ground through his throat.

Why a thief would try to steal a horse from the Temple of Set was never determined, but for his action Raco was granted freedom and the opportunity to become an acolyte. He accepted and studied diligently. It was in this time frame when he made the acquaintance of the young elf woman named Zolana.

Shortly thereafter, and upon completion of his preliminary studies, he was asked (directed) to leave and make his mark on the world. Raco has traveled widely and honed his martial skills to include lances and swords, and such items that priests don’t usually use. He learned early on that, although he is a loyal and faithful priest of Set, it is prudent to refrain from advertising such a fact until such time as would be propitious.

Although his superiors disapprove of some of his techniques, they have found him to be both a faithful and effective enforcer, and his reputation within the church has grown accordingly. As such, they tolerate his eccentricities, however this tolerance has not extended to promoting him into the political hierarchy of the church.

Raco is a serious individual who approaches each adventure as a critical mission. Planning and preparation are crucial as are courage and loyalty. He has been known to kill party members in the middle of battle when their actions proved cowardly and/or treacherous.

Order and discipline are the keys to power. There is certainly room for discussion, but once the conversation is finished and the course is set, action should be executed with all available resources. Although Raco is not wasteful and doesn’t kill indiscriminately, he has no reservations about taking a life (or lives) if necessary to accomplish some particular task.

Raco is an active adventurer and will join a party if it suits his interests. He is intolerant of priests of other faiths as they are all heretics but will abide by his word and work with them, if necessary, but only and exactly as far as his word was articulated.
