Iverson
Player Character Bio
Player: Dave P.; Campaign: Darwin's Realm
Bio written by Dave P.
"Move like mist on the wind, leaving behind the vanquished."
Iverson is a human male, approximate age in
his late thirties, with a stature only slightly taller than average. His demeanor displays a
situational awareness in conjunction with a casual physical confidence. Apparel is nondescript
but usually overlays a chain mail shirt and is always accompanied by a Katana and dagger. He is
frequently seen running alongside his horse and has been known to do so for hours. His devotion
to physical fitness is constant as he performs what appears to be a ritualistic combat dance,
lasting for an hour or so, every morning. He appears to be familiar with most common weapons
and a few that are more esoteric. In hand-to-hand combat he favors a Florentine style but is
also able to strike with kicks and by open hand techniques. He is ruthless and thorough in
combat and, unless requirements are otherwise, he will ensure the demise of his opponent once
they have fallen.
Although not by nature a loner, and able to
quite comfortably work with and within a party, Iverson’s talents lie in the realm of
surreptitious conflict and combat. As such he has spent considerable time and effort to
acquire those abilities that allow him to close with his target, engage and terminate it, and
extricate himself, with minimal assistance from other party members.
Iverson was born to a small family in the
city of Taska. His father taught him the basics of martial arts but Iverson’s thirst for
adventure soon drew him away from home and into the exciting world of which he had heard
stories. The reality he found there quickly taught him that survival depended on awareness,
speed of action, the ability to strike first and hard.
In time Iverson began to take small enforcement
contracts. His reputation was solidified when he was only 21 years old and had been contracted
to eliminate a party of 7 adventurers, including 2 wizards. Tracking them into a dungeon, he
silently dispatched the rear guard, posing as the last in line in the darkened catacombs, and
worked his way up until he was close to the 2 wizards. Dropping a darkness coin, he
simultaneously slipped a garrote over the neck of the first one. In the ensuing darkness and
confusion he terminated the first wizard and was able to close on the second. Grabbing hold of
the wizards’ robes by way of identifying his target, his dagger made short and bloody work. The
remaining 3 fighters, by now moving into the darkness with swords leading the way, found only
warm bloody remains and hastily decided to leave with their comrade’s bodies. As they exited
the dungeon with their dripping load, Iverson sprung from his hiding place and inserted his
sword through the chest of the first one, killing him instantly. The other two, with their
hands full, took but a moment to drop the bodies and draw weapons. That was too long. Leaping
into the air, Iverson kicked one fighter in the head, knocking him out. The second fighter
closed but, after a short and viscous exchange, fell mortally wounded. The heads were delivered
to his client as verification of mission success.
Iverson still adventures frequently and is generally
willing to accompany a party if the promise of reward is sufficient. He can be contracted but
his fees are steep. He sometimes sides with the underdog if he feels that gross miscarriage of
justice is afoot. He is not easily distracted but inter party conflict will cause him to either
leave or choose one side over the other and eliminate the conflict.
