Ken’s Cycling Page!!!!

Cycling is my life! I love to ride...it’s as simple as that! I now own nine bikes! I once had a Bottecchia SL/ Athena Graphite painted in ADR colors, an Alpinestars Al-Mega mountain bike, a Barracuda A2X with IRD forks, a Land Shark TT, and a Nishiki Ariel(my first mountain bike)!

Now that I am not racing anymore, all I do is ride for recreation and to keep myself in shape...or try to as much as I can! If anyone out there ever wants to go riding out on the Peninsula(i.e. Canada road, King's hill, 84) send me some email! I'm also up for some weekend rides over in the East Bay.

Currently I ride a McMahon Ti Road, a Hooker Elite Cat.1, 2 Raleigh John Tomac Signature Mountain Bikes, a Bontrager CX Cyclocross, an Otis Guy Softride mountain bike, a Clark Kent F-14 mtn. bike, and the Santana tandem. I used to ride a Gazelle 531 for a commute bike. I used it everyday and it was very true and reliable...nothing flashy, but a great ride that got the job done. On Sept 13, 2000 I was hit by a car and the Gazelle became scrap metal. :( The cyclocross bike is a blast to ride and is probably one of the most fun bikes to ride since it can do a little bit of everything. I suppose I should put a plug in for my friend Jon who got me into road racing. I was a beginner mountain biker when he introduced me to road racing. At first I didn't accept it....but then I was taken up by all aspects of the sport. Jon was employed by SunRace Bicycle Components. Unfortunately he doesn't really ride anymore and is giving me the excuse that he doesn't have any time. But we all know what that really means now don't we? WIMP! Now get out there and ride JON!

9/13/00 update: ACCIDENT!!! I was cut off by a car on my way to work and was taken away by ambulance and spent the morning in the emergency/trauma center. Scary situation that is currently being resolved. The good part is that I am relatively ok other than my neck and the majorly bad part is that the Gazelle is crunched and destroyed. People need to drive better and watch out for cyclists! I WAS LUCKY!

7/16/03 Driver's are idiots!!!! I was HIT AGAIN! I'm in a straight bike lane on a sunny clear day around 7:05P which is very light outside as it stays light til like 9P. I'm riding in the bike lane and as I go through a side street intersection a car decides to make a left turn across 2 lanes directly into me. Can someone explain to me how this happens? You look right in front of you and you sill see where your car is headed and what is in front of it. So anyways.... actually hit me this time .....once again I was going straight in the bike lane and he made a left turn...not before me....but right into me.....was he not looking or something.,...don't ppl look where they are going.....he went straight into me. Luckily I have no broken bones, but cuts a bruises and sore muscles. A clear clear straight once again and the driver should have a VERY clear view of the road. So anyways....I am in a leg brace and have quite a nice bruise and scrape on my back and arm...but otherwise I think I will recover. Good thing I was wearing a helmet(as always) because it saved my life again....I heard it smack on the ground and slide.....whew! I did find that I have a little arthritis in my neck from my previous accident.

12/31/03 - So now the McMahon is gone and I replaced it with my newest ride....my lightest bike yet. The 2004 LOOK KX LIGHT with Dura Ace 10 and all carbon accessories except for my stem(cause al is lighter than the carbon version)
