The use of black and white can be very effective.
These are a few samples which sold well in a small gift shop.
I was requested to create 'souvenir type' note cards, postcards, bookmarks and magnets, in a simple but classic layout.
I chose to use mostly black and white with some items having a splash of color.

A set of notecards with complimentary colored envelopes.
Notecards can make a very nice gift. The layout is simple and clean with only the flower, the name of the flower in the lower left, and an individual's name in the lower right to give it a very personalized touch. Remember to use a simple frame on the back, and place your 'logo' for credit. Graphics other than flowers could also be used. A suggestion is a set of birds.
