Samuel 13
|
|
1 ¶Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years
over Israel,
2 Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand
were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were
with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people
he sent every man to his tent.
3 And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in
Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet
throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.
4 And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten a garrison of the
Philistines, and that Israel also was had in abomination with the
Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal.
5 And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with
Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and
people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they
came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.
6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the
people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in
caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in
pits.
7 And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and
Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed
him trembling.
8 ¶And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that
Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people
were scattered from him.
9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace
offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering
the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet
him, that he might salute him.
11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because
I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest
not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered
themselves together at Michmash;
12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me
to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced
myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast
not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded
thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel
for ever.
14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought
him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to
be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which
the LORD commanded thee.
15 ¶And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah
of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with
him, about six hundred men.
16 And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present
with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped
in Michmash.
17 And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three
companies: one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah,
unto the land of Shual:
18 And another company turned the way to Bethhoron: and another
company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley
of Zeboim toward the wilderness.
19 Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel:
for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:
20 But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen
every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock.
21 Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and
for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads.
22 So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither
sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were
with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son
was there found.
23 And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the passage of
Michmash.

|
1 ¶Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for
my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth
hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth
his hand from doing any evil.
3 ¶Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself
to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from
his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths,
and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a
place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give
them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD,
to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants,
every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh
hold of my covenant;
7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful
in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called
an house of prayer for all people.
8 The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet
will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto
him.
9 ¶All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye
beasts in the forest.
10 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb
dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.
11 Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they
are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own
way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
12 Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves
with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much
more abundant.

57
|
|
1 ¶The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart:
and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous
is taken away from the evil to come.
2 He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each
one walking in his uprightness.
3 ¶But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed
of the adulterer and the whore.
4 Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide
mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression,
a seed of falsehood,
5 Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying
the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?
6 Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they
are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou
hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
7 Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither
wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.
8 Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance:
for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone
up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them;
thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.
9 And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase
thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase
thyself even unto hell.
10 Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou
not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore
thou wast not grieved.
11 And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied,
and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I
held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?
12 I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall
not profit thee.
13 ¶When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the
wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that
putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit
my holy mountain;
14 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take
up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity,
whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him
also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit
of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth:
for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have
made.
17 ¶For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote
him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way
of his heart.
18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also,
and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far
off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.
20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest,
whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

21
|
|
1 ¶And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven
and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from
God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle
of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall
be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their
God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall
be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there
be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things
new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain
of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his
God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers,
and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall
have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:
which is the second death.
9 ¶And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had
the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with
me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's
wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain,
and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out
of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone
most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the
gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names
of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south
three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them
the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city,
and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as
the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand
furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four
cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city
was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with
all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper;
the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite;
the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus;
the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was
of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were
transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the
Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to
shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is
the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light
of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour
into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there
shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into
it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth,
neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they
which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Revelation
22
|
|
1 ¶And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as
crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river,
was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits,
and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were
for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of
the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither
light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall
reign for ever and ever.
6 ¶And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true:
and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto
his servants the things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings
of the prophecy of this book.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard
and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which
shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant,
and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings
of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of
this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy,
let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous
still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give
every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and
the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have
right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into
the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers,
and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things
in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the
bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth
say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will,
let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy
of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall
add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of
this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life,
and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written
in this book.
20 ¶He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly.
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
