NEWS

16/01/04- As you have I'm all realised this website has been defunct for some time. If anyone wishes to still use anything I built here three years ago they are wellcome. I am mostly posting this message so that the website isn't deleted... despite everything I put too much work into this to see it just go like that. I do still get a few messages about the unit or the KRRC itself- do contact me if you wish, although I have found the British Army themselves very good at forwarding inquiries to the relevent organisations. All the best, David Blatcher (now Midshipman Royal Navy).

08/11/01- Done some updating around the site, we have been working hard on getting members assinged into platoons, it is now up to the platoon commanders to assign members to specific positions. I suggest that all members take a look. I also got rid of the friday's update thing that I never got around to updating on fridays.

06/11/00- Progress at last! the music page is up, although a couple more AASH songs are still to be added. 1 Platoon's order of battle should be in my inbox shortly, and I hope that I have finally sorted a leader for the American Platoon. The designer of the secure area has been prodded...

03/11/00- Another month has vanished... I'm not going to make any more promises about when the website will be done. The member that was doing the secret section has been very busy, and it isn't ready. I have no news on the Flash intro. 1 Platoon now has a leader and is fairly sorted. The scout carrier platoon now has a leader, and should be getting sorted shortly, the mortar section is also sorted. I am finding members to lead the other sections and to delegate administrative tasks to so that I can concentrate on other matters. Inter-squad relations, however, are doing well. I am currently in planning with the 1st Allied Strike Force on war matters. The members tree will be sorted when I am ready to do so.

27/09/00- Oh, dear, This one is going to be another apology... Right, the world of A-levels has been treating me badly and i have less free time than I did, and also feel depressed when I do have a few spare minutes! The existing tactical articles are being reviewed and corrected, the members-only area is finally back on track to completion, tactical lessons are being arranged and I am finally starting to make inroads into the daunting task of re-doing the members tree. Hopefully about 2 weeks until the site is updated properly, please be patient and again, sorry about the delay.

21/08/00- Sorry, I haven't managed to get the unit all sorted yet and I am going away for most of the next 3 weeks. I hope my members will ge to work on things while I am gone. Members lists e.t.c will not be updated for a while, sorry. All new applicants WILL be accepted anyway though.

06/08/00- I have been working hard to get the unit in order. Once that is done, the website will get some more attention. I am currently sorting out a team of people to do the website with me, so the website should become larger and be updated more. I have edited the "Traditions" section and the two histories on the recommendations of a veteran. I have some tactical articles and a members only section that just need formatting to go on the website.

19/07/00- Sorry. You haven't had any updates for ages. I have been very busy with various things and have not had much time. I will shortly add the new members to the list. I have suspended reformatting the History and Members pages for now whilst I give them some serious thought. I have a busy few weeks ahead of me, so sorry if I make few updates in the near future. I shall include the new Bren carrier section in the members list page.

07/07/00- My apologies that the website hasn't been updated yet this week, I have had other things to do and have not had the time. Today I have corrected a few hardware niggles and have added this week's quiz. See "Friday's updates" for link and what I PLAN to do next week.

30/6/00- I'm sure I made a news update yesterday, I remember writing it!? I must have forgotten to uplaoad it and not saved it. How clever. Anyway, I have been tweaking the format and correcting errors on the website over the last couple of days. My apologies for the brief period when the site was almost not functioning at all! Anyway, today I have been working on some things that are not ready for posting yet, expect some better and more appropriate graphics on some of the pages shortly. I will also be expanding the historical database. I have made my weekly Friday evening update, click on the link (top right) to see a summary of the week and what I Intend to do next week.

28/6/00- You may have noticed that things are a little different. Just goes to show that dedication and effort will always prevail over lack of skill! I am currently re-doing the site and you will still see some old-style sections for a few days. I would like some feedback on this new format, please. Also, It hs been proposed that the 3rd Airbourne Bigade should disband and that we should fight the entire war in the KRRC, comments are again wellcome.

26/6/00- Please take a look at this post on the WWIIOL forums, where I spell out my plans for this website. Once these are done, I will go back to concentrating on expanding the historical database. My main weekly update will now be at 8:00 on a Friday evening, GMT. I will do things to the site all week as usual but a new trivia quiz and summary of the weeks additions will be posted here every Friday at that time. I have started to remove the cursor windows from the pages, please wait until this evening for the main changes as this connection costs me 3p per minute at this time.

25/6/00- OK, it's not Monday but I had a few spare minutes. The squad site review of the KRRC is up, I scored a respectable 18/25, the best bits apparently are the history and the trivia quiz, and the worst bits are a few dodgy links, the music he hated and the cursor software download windows were annoying if you do not want them. I will probably get rid of the cursor tomorrow for this reason, I am fixing the links and things and will be overhauling the site tomorow to have a better interface. Because of this, no more historical info for the moment i'm afraid. I am also trying to learn Javascript to cut down the time it takes to make hose trivia quizes, so you lucky people can get more of them. If you spot any of these numerous spelling errors, please point them out. Oh, I have also added some sten info, take a look here. That quiz link below should also work properly now.

23/6/00- Added a guestbook, last thing for today. Next update will be on Monday.

23/6/00- I have done that quiz and it is posted here. A must see!. Sorry if it is short but what is there took me 5 hours to write and consists of 66 interlocking html pages. If it has html errors, please report them to me.

23/6/00- I have added some pictures to yesterday's historical info as well as posting the information that I have on the Boyes AT rifle. Thanks to my freind Ben for this. I have also fixed a couple of broken links and fixed an error that prevented the cursor from loading on some of the history pages. I have plenty of new stuff planned for the site, so come back in a few days. If you own copy of Rogue Spear, you may find my gun chart handy.

The things that I hope to add include:

A step-by-step detailed account of the KRRC in WWII which is likely to be a regular paragraph-a-day feature;

Some new javascript apps;

Information on the sten, webbley, 2 and 3 inch mortars, Vickers mk 1 Heavy Machine Gun, plus some info on the scout cars of the unit and the tanks that they supported;

A tactical article that is currently being written by a squad member;

An HTML based multi-page trivia quiz (you will understand when you see it).

A detailed account of the KRRC's actions at Calais

A Rogue Spear Practice Diary

I hope to get most of these onto the site in the next few weeks, bear with me. I will post on the WWIIOL forums to alert people of new features. If you are lucky, some of these features may be up later today.

22/6/00- I have been a busy bee today, I have added four history sections (under history) including a summary of the history of the KRRC from 1755 to 1945 and an essay on the causes of the BEF withdrawal. I have made the background lighter still, it may look worse but at least people can now read the text more easily. I have also fiddled around with the menu bar and added an introduction that I hpoe you noticed on your way it. This work is not all becuase of the review tomorrow, I would have done it all long ago had I not had exams. I'm afraid teh articles are rather bland, I hope to add some pictures tomorrow. Come back tomorrow, I have some info on the Boyes AT rifle to put up, as well as some pictures and hpoefully some more features.

21/6/00- Exams are all over now, I am busy preparing the site for Weasel's review on Friday (11 hours work on it today!). I have added information on our lorry, the Bren LMG, a speperate page for all of our 31 squad members and an updated member tree. I have fixed loads of links and backed up the site. We have a new member, Outcast, who I will add soon. Tomorrow I have an enormous list of this=ngs to get don, I hope I will do them all in time. If you are a member, please check your details. Planned things include: Historical essays, Trivia quizzes, Javascript features and a revamped menu bar. Come back after the review on Friday!

18/6/00- I AM BACK. I hope to be shorltly back into my routine of regular updates. I am working on some new features for the site now, take a look back in a few days to see the results.

30/5/00- READ CAREFULLY. I will not be updating the site at all for 3 weeks, so don't bother coming back. New members (3 in the queue already) will not be added. No new information will be included. If I do update the site, kill me slowly. You can find the adress for letter bombs on my ICQ profile. Sorry about this, but I have lots of GCSE revision to do.

30/5/00- Added the new join form that Dinger made for me. Also added a new cursor. I will update the member list soon, There will be a new lorry reserved for Dinger and his freinds. I also have some info on the Bren and the 15cwt truck to add, i will do it later but now I really MUST get on with sme revision!

27/5/00- Updated the links page, we are now a member of the WWIIOL webring. Added a picture of our lorry, the 15 cwt truck. (see under history). Re-did the member tree, again. Keep coming back, I plan to re-do the toolbar and add some fancy features soon, as well as completing the member pages, adding more hardware and historical information, and a tactical article that a squad member is writing for the site. We now havw 18 members, with several more people expressing interest in the squad. My birthday on Monday, I should be getting sme historical books. Yes, my English Lit. wnt fine, thanks.

21/5/00- Updated the links page, we are now a member of the AllSim webring.

20/5/00- Fixed a couple of broken links, added to our squad explanation above. Added a brief record of the KRRC's actions in WWII that I scnned in. Sorry if it is hard to read, but I really don't have time to type it all up (what with English Lit. on Monday!).

18/5/00- Added information on the Lee Enfield rifle. Look under History.

14/5/00- New music. You can still hear the old music as normal. However, if you wait for the music to finish, or stop it using your browser toolbar botton, you can click here to hear the music to the new piece. The music is that of the German National Anthem, and the words are here:

Deutscher, Deutscher, uber alles,

In the Sands outside Tobruk,

Saw a Jerry acting wary,

Thought I'd go and take a look.

He was sitting, pants down shitting,

Down a little shady pass.

Put a trifle up my rifle,

Aimed, and shot him up the arse.

13/5/00- Changes, changes, changes! I have done many things to the site. These include: inverting the order of the news section, latest news is now at the top; totally re-writing the member tree; reducing and changing the traditions section to a jpg file, increasing ease of use and reducing download times. I will be adding a page on each member soon, with many other changes planned. Keep coming back!

7/5/00- I have uploaded some recruitment posters that I have made. Take a look at them here. I will re-do the member tree soon. The words to the background music are as follows:

Hitler

Has only got one ball,

Goering

Has two, but very small

Himmler

Has something similar,

But poor old Goebbels

Has no balls

At all!

I will putup another such piece of music soon.

15/4/00- I have added the Regimental Battle honours to the site, lots more info to come, please take a look. The Regiment has a long and glorious history, as you can see. When the battle for France starts, we must not let down the regiment. Also, I made the background a little lighter, it may not look so good but at least the text is now readable!

14/4/00- We have recently teamed up with the 5th infantry brigade, a group of many different units to aid co-ordination and allow greater mutual support between our units. Visit their site, 5th Infantry Brigade

5/4/00- I am sorry that I will be unable to keep up this site properly until the end of June, I have lot of GCSE work to do. I do have considerable amounts of information on the corps now which I will type up and post as soon a possible.
