Calculator Formulas

What's happening with the calculators in the next version??
When I began working on version 2.4 I started to receive a bunch of emails from people using the Euro calculator saying that sometimes not all countries in Europe use the same formula as the one that is provided with iWatchr's Euro Calculator. Some countries, from what I understand, have slight differences.

Then thinking about the whole "formula" thing some more, I thought about the possible legal issues that might arise from having any formulas in the application at all. There are other developers that had "points" calculators in their app and they had to be removed from the AppStore at Weight Watchers request. In order to ensure iWatchr's survival and to be able to continue to provide all the users with future updates, I had to make sure that iWatchr wouldn't cause any trouble but at the same time not disappoint all the users that have become used to the calculators.

This is when I came up with this "editable formulas" feature.

In the present version, by default, the calculators work like they always have. You don't have to do anything. The "editable formula" feature is just something extra that is included with the normal calculators. An add-on, that's all.

I would like for my users to get familiar with the "editable formula" feature tho because it is possible that in the next update, due to reasons stated above (especially legal one), I will have to remove the built in formulas. I'm trying to work around this but I figured that if I put the editable formula feature in now (along with the built-in formulas), you can learn how to configure calculators using this feature at your own leisure. That way when/if the time comes to remove the built in formulas, the transition will be much easier. (Actually, if you learn to do it now and actually use it, when that version is released you won't have to do anything because it will already be done!!

It is very easy to follow since it is setup in a iphone-like way. iWatchr saves all settings so once it is initially done, subsequent uses of the calculators will be like the way it has always been!!
This may turn out to be a plus for many of you. Since iWatchr now has the ability to configure the calculators any which way you choose, if you were to switch to a different weight-loss program that maybe did things somewhat similar, you could still use iWatchr to do all your logging and you could reconfigure the calculators to work with that new program!!

I am willing to help anybody and everybody personally if you run into trouble which, with the help of the screenshots in the links below, hopefully won't be the case.
