Some of my past and present interests would include.....
- Travel. - Doesn't take a genius to work this one out this being a travel journal and all :), I have always since I was very young wanted to see the world, not in the everyday sense, I wanted to SEE the world, all of it, the good and the bad, posh to slum, first to third world, hot and cold, east and west, north and south. Someday I will. It took me a long time to get started but I finally have, and here is where you can follow my adventures, see how I do, what I do where I stop. Some of my favorite Travel Links include,
- World Atlas. This gives you all sorts of valuable information about places all over the world, local culture and customs and all sorts of histories of the area's.
- Lonely Planet.Another good travellers website giving up to date information on the areas and the local's and the history, also gives good warnings about the local scams and the seedier parts of life.
- History. - More accurately Ancient History, I've always had a passion about ancient culture's, which in part inspired my first interest travel, and also my next interest reading. I want to see ancient Greece, Rome , Macedon, Persia, Mayans , Aztecs, Inca's, Vikings , Celts, I want to go see Tibet and Japan...... I'll stop now I'm sure you get the picture. A good website for this is,
- Ancient World Web.This website archives and chronicles tonnes of other websites relating to Ancient History, so is a good starting point.
- Reading. - One of my longest and greatest passions, as those who are close to me will testify, I'm never far from a book and my bedroom look's like a library. Saying that i'm very fussy about what I'll read, I'm mostly a fantasy person, stemming from my love of ancient history, I love Heroic Fantasy and Historic Fantasy, I think these books have had much influence in shaping my personality to some degree.some of my favorite authors include...
- Music. - Well music has been a mainstay of my life, going through many revisions but with always one constant - Rock! don't get me wrong I have a very diverse CD collection, ranging from tribal, traditional irish, classical, hardcore dance, jazz, blues, R'n'B, but my love has always and always will be rock, since my initiation into the Seattle grunge scene when I was about 15, unfortunately also around the time that Kurt Cobain decided to top himself R.I.P, I've been to and seen many of my favorite bands live, including Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, and A Perfect Circle, also Muse, Deftones, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Johnny Moy and some more obscure underground Techno DJ's that most people would not know. I'll drop in some link's to some of my favorite bands...Oh and just a note these are MY opinions, i'm sure alot of you have your own, and if you do feel free to make your own webpage :)
- MMORPG's. - Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games.I have to admit to these taking up a large part of my life at one stage. Well in all honesty more so being my life :)
Asherons Call, would you ever thinkyou could play a game for 4 years and still not finish it? Thats MMORPG's they are persistant gaming worlds with thousands of players interacting from all over the world in a virtual universe. I made MANY very good friends through this game whom i'm still friends with now. I'm still waiting for the next big thing to come out....
- City of Heroes. just got into closed beta with this game, so far all I can say is BRILLIANT!
- Darkfall. This Game looks Amazing but unfortunately it's still in closed beta :(
- Lineage II. This is my current plaything, lots of my old friends from AC in this open beta.
- Reenacting. - This took up a large part of my earlier life, and reentered recently for the King Arthur movie which was shot recently here in Ireland and which myself and many other reenactors took part in as Combat Crew. Basically what we do/did is reenact ancient celtic and other periods, involving mostly battle reenactments all over the country, historical reenactments and living history villages. this still goes on to a certain degree but I don't partake much anymore.
