Buffy turns Xander down for the dance. He then decides he and Willow can go together, but Willow refuses, not wanting to watch Xander wish all night that he could be with Buffy.
Ms. Calendar and Giles discuss the signs that an apocalypse is on its way.
After seeing blood come out of a school bathroom sink, Buffy goes to see Giles.
She sees Angel and Giles talking and overhears them discussing a prophecy that
                                      ends with her dying.
Very upset, Buffy argues with Angel and Giles telling them that she doesnt want to
die. She tells them that she quits being the slayer.
At home, Joyce tries to cheer Buffy up by insisting she wear a new dress she bought
                                      her for the spring fling.

Cordelia is very much looking forward to seeing her
boyfriend and she is friendly and chatty with Willow.
When they enter the school lounge, they are totaly horrified to find the room
wrecked and Cordelias boyfriend and his friends dead.
Wearing her new dress, Buffy goes to the library to find Giles and tell him that
she has decided to find and fight the master, alone!
They argue and Buffy knocks Giles out to stop him from going to confront the
master.
Buffy tells the shocked Ms Calendar to tell Giles that she said something nice
when he 'comes round'.
Outside, Buffy finds a little boy, the anointed one, who she knows will lead her to the master.
After he finds out  that Buffy is supposed to die, Xander goes and finds Angel. Reluctant allies, Xander and Angel try to locate the masters lair.
Meanwhile Buffy and the master fight. He tells her if she had not of come he
could not escape. It is her who will free him!
He bites her and then throws her face down in some water.
Buffys' blood enables him to leave his lair and when he does the hellmouth
                                              starts to open.
Cordelia arrives  and saves Willow and Ms. Calendar from vampires that are
starting to surround the school. They take cover in the library.
Xander and Angel find a drowned Buffy and Xander performs CPR and brings
                                              her back to life,

skeleton.
