| Smithing is the end result of mining and one of the cornerstones of the RuneScape economy. Even the newest "n00b" can mine for free, smelt the ore for free, and then smith the metal for free into objects that may be sold on the open market or to other players. When first starting out, it's the easiest and fastest way to obtain armor, weapons and gold.
