Weblog 1 : 7 : 2thousandfour Wow long time since the last update, sorry about that. So it's 2004 now, aah it still has that new year smell. Christmass was fun, I hung out with my family and the G-parents, got some nice loot, and got some work in on all those projects that I don't have time for during the school term. I even got to hang out with the high school gang a couple of times, all in all it was pretty good. And now I'm back at osu, nose to the grindstone right? heh heh wrong. It's my 3rd day here and I've had a total of 2 classes. of course it's syllabus week so they only lasted about 20 min. each. On Tues. osu closed for snow for the 6th or 7th time in it's history, and closed down again on Wed. It's a good thing it did too since my alarm clock inexplicably failed to wake me up before me Tues. morning class. In other alarm clock news there was a 20 min. blackout last night right as I was going to bed around 2:30. Callahan hall and Sacket hall across campus both went out, I was kind of irritated since this meant my alarm wouldn't go off, but we all had a fun time wandering around the dark hall in our pajamas with flashlights trying to find an RA or a fusebox. Luckily the power came back on before I went to bed so I could set my clock to wake up the next morning and find out school was cancelled. The other peice of news: for now anyways I have my room to myself for half the cost, I just can't use the other side. Still it's a lot more spacious without al of Nathan's stuff all over the place. This means that all 3 rooms at the end of my wing are now singles, Posh huh?
1 : 10 : 2004 Finally the weekend. Man oh man some week. My graphics teacher starts her Mon. class with a list of required supplies @ about $100. No problem, I just have to get to the campus atm and the bookstore to pick up the stuff before Wed. Heh heh heh . . . no. 2 days of school closure mean I can't get to the atm or the store. Well I'll just run into town, there's a craft store right near the wells fargo. The funny thing is It takes a lot longer to get downtown when there's a foot and a half of slush and you don't have a car or a very good idea of how to get wherever it is you think you're going. Anyway the abridged version is that after walking in one very large circle I finally found an atm in a roadside laundromate with a very cheerfull barista and arrived back @ my dorm after 4 hrs. out in the under 45* weather soaked from the knees down with supplies in my backpack, a new cd in my player and free coffee in my belly. And yes you heard me 4 hrs. In other news this week I just saw Last Samurai, It was actually pretty good despite being very formulaic and glorified. My sister and I enjoyed the elaborate subtitles (e.g. "sumimasen" translated as "please forgive my weakness"). Go see it if you like war movies or action anime. If you don't, it's probably not worth you're time. CD Player: Zoot Suit Riot, by Cherry poppin daddies
1 : 18 : 2004 Don't have time for a long log, basically I havn't had a steady internet signal through my dorm all week, but I did some new art while I was logged off. New Desktop images and some new sketches for the gallery coming soon CD Player: The Wall, Pink Floyd
| 1 : 23 : 2004 Wow it's been a while since the last real update, that's mostly laziness with a bit of homework to blame. But here's a nice phat update to make up for it. Some of the 1st new art in a long time, more than 20 drawings, and some more variety coming for the links. I've gotta find something to do while I'm waiting for my PS2 copy of Sonic Heros, unlike certain un-named Gamecube punks who got theirs released weeks ago. You know who you are. | 1 : 29 : 2004 O.K. once again sorry for the lack of update, more internet connection problems. So did everyone enjoy the new drawings? there's more to come so stay tuned. What have I been up to lately? well I've been experiencing the joy that is Art 115, the basic design class. So far it has involved massive hours doing restrictive simple stuff with a ruler and a fine-tipped sharpie. Last Mon. in particular it involved a 9+ hour project due the following Wed. So I spent about 8 hrs. straight Tues. night enjoying the fine bouqet of sharpie and hot eraser. It's fun to collapse into bed @ 3am! . . . actually it's not. However things have gotten interesting on the Euphonium front. I've started private lessons again and I'm starting to recapture my wind ensemble level of tone. I'm getting into the swing of our 6 or 7 peices, and I'm starting to relly look forward to our concert, and hosting the high-school band festival. In my free time I've been working on my Starcraft mod. "Army of Z-nor" you play a commander in Z-nor's forces, fighting the new zerg threat. It starts slow for beginers, but there's plenty of new elements for old starcraft fans. I'm hoping to put a level or 2 online @ some point. Cd Player: Viva la vida, Frida Kahlo Sountrack |
2 : 2 : 2oo4 Well I'm just in a mellow mood. I suppose it could be the lack of sleep but it seems like a calm atmosphere just fell over the campus this evening. The sunset took on a certain color that reminded me of summer vacations back in elementary school and I walked back to my dorm feeling pretty nostalgic. This weekend was pretty eventful. I headed back to Salem on Saturday. and picked up the copy of Sonic Heros I reserved a few weeks ago. I didn't have as much time to lay it as I would have liked but it looks to be in the top 3 or 4 of hyperactive, super-focus games along with Power-Stone and Giga-Wing. My sister and I were also amazed to see they've re-introduced the long-lost element of the special stage, and in a very retro, Sonic 2 style. I also finally saw Lord of the Rings. I have to say it was pretty cool, and had plenty of inadvertant humor. but I could have gone without the closeups of frodo's mutilated hand though, I was eating at the time. And finally last night. Oh last night . . . What do I find when I get back to my dorm? that design project due Mon. afternoon that I planned on finishing up? funny thing . . . that was back in salem. But after my mom e-mailed me a scan of it, and after some creative use of materials, at about 3:30 am I was looking at a pretty much finished design. I just had to get up early to get some new pens from the bookstore the next morning to finish it and get it turned in on time. At least it was one of the best ones there. Oddly enough I don't feel all that sleepy, just mellow. CD Player: Angel thesis (instrumental), Evangelion Soundtrack
