This section will look at the gods of Dragonball Universe, from the Earth's point of view. We will start at the lowest god and work up to the top.

Kami-Sama

Also known as the guardian of Earth, Kami-Sama is the official title of the God of the Earth. He watches over the planet from his palace high above Korin Tower. The first Kami-Sama we see in the series is the good half of Piccolo Daimao. But when he fuses with Piccolo (DBZ), Goku heads to New Namek, and Dende becomes the new Kami-Sama. Mr. Popo is the loyal servant of Kami-Sama. He has been the servant of Kami-Sama for generation upon generation, and will continue doing so, long after Dende is no longer Kami-Sama.

Enma-Daio

Enma-Daio is the lord and judge of the dead. It is he who decides who goes to Heaven and who must be sent to hell. He also decides who is allowed to try and travel Snake Way to see North Kaio-Sama. Enma-Daio himself has ran Snake Way, and became a student of North Kaio-Sama's. He is also Kami-Sama's boss and even threatens to send Kami-Sama to Hell.

Kaio-Sama

The Kaio-Samas are given the job of ruling over a quadrant of a particular galaxy. The four Kaio-Samas that we meet in the series are the rules of over our galaxy, the Milky Way. Earth's Kaio-Sama is the North Kaio-Sama. North Kaio-Sama is one of the more influential gods in the series. He trains Goku, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Yamcha and Chouzu. He also teaches Goku the vital Kaioken and Genki Dama techniques.

Dai Kaio

In each galaxy, the four Kaio-Sama are ruled over by the Dai Kaio. Here we see the Dai Kaio of the Milky Way. The Dai Kaio is greatly respected by the four Kaio-Samas, and they never question him. He loves rock music and fighting, and holds a tournament, the Anoyoichi Budoukai, for the galaxy's strongest fighters on his planet

Kaioshin

Like the four Kaio-Samas ruling over a quadrant of the galaxy each. The four Kaioshins each rule over a quadrant of the entire universe. However the peaceful existence of the Kaioshin is cut short by the arrival of Buu. Buu kills the North Kaioshin and the West Kaioshin, absorbing the stronger West Kaioshin. As Buu goes to kill the East Kaioshin, he is saved by the Dai Kaioshin. After Buu, East Kaioshin is the only one who survives, and as the highest ranking god remaining, he assumes the role of Dai Kaioshin.

Dai Kaioshin

Like the Dai Kaio, the Dai Kaioshin is the highest of the Kaioshins. But he is also the supreme god of the universe. The present Dai Kaioshin is absorbed by Buu while protecting East Kaioshin. When Kid Buu absorbs him, Fat Buu is created. It is the Dai Kaioshin's good nature and love of sweets that shine through in Fat Buu. We meet the Rou Dai Kaioshin when Gohan snaps the Z Sword. He is the Dai Kaioshin, from 15 generations ago. It is the Rou Dai Kaioshin, who takes over from East Kaioshin once he is freed. He is responsible for creating Vegetto when he gives Goku the Potara Earrings, and also for creating the first SSJ4, as it was his idea to pull out Goku's tail.
