We went to Boston for a conference Nov. 11-16, took in the Freedom Trail and Harvard, covered with 4 inches of fresh snow, and had great seafood at Legal Seafood in Copely Square. Dar went to Duke in Raleigh-Durham in October and on All Saints Day we returned to Mt. Pisgah. Asheville was still decked out in fall color. For Christmas we shall fly to Seattle and Yakima after we make a trip to New Orleans Dec. 6-10 for the SACS Conference. We are even making plans for Amsterdam (Read the article) which were written up in Southern Voice.
Over Labor Day, Darryl played tennis in the Peach Tournament. He won one round of singles, made it to the quarterfinals in mixed doubles and played a mean three sets in the men's doubles semi-finals.
On August 10, we celebrated Jack's 50th Birthday(August 7) with 30 of our dearest friends. Darryl provided 50 roses and a case of champagne.
In
June and July, we enjoyed our summer trip to San Francisco, Portland, and points West. The weeks in California and Oregon were a delight.
We took part in the Gay Pride festivities in San Francisco, Jack attended
the ALA Conference, and we stayed in North Beach at two comfy Inns. We
took the train to Portland; met up with Dar's bro, Jim; saw 4th of July
fireworks over the river; drove up to Mt. Hood for a couple of days, spent
a night in a log cabin on the McKenzie River, and toured the Oregon coast.
We stayed at the Cliff House for two nights in the Alsea room with its
spectacular view of the Pacific. Then, we took the train from Eugene back
to S.F. where we visited with Amy and hooked up again with Alan, who generously
drove us to the airport for our return to Hotlanta.
