As of August 14th I have added the most recent photo I have of myself (click "view my profile" on the Geocities banner).
Introduction to my WebPage:
It is my express desire to find a position in the biotechnology industry. Therefore the objective of this webpage is to showcase my expertise. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a whole webpage should account for something more. I believe that for those wishing to balance the responsibilities of family with those associated with a successful career that the biotechnology sector offers jobs that are both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling.
The depth and breadth of
expertise outlined in my resumé covers a wide area of
scientific disciplines. My day-to-day output reflects a high level of
motivation, efficiency and the ability to meet any objective.
In
addition to my technical qualifications I have a
proven ability to troubleshoot, I am extremely self-motivated, I have
the skills to apply strategic thinking. An innate curiosity coupled with
tremendous creativity enable me to work well independently, yet I have
an appreciation for and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Although I am extremely confident in my skills as a scientist I am open to
identifying and using the best type of tools and analysis for a particular
problem. I believe that this is a direct result of my doctoral studies which
exposed me to fairly broad training and familiarity with a lot of different
tools. I am
also quite comfortable working in the Windows operating system and have
experience using common data management, graphics, and word processing software.
I believe that industrial science is not just science. Everyone works across department and disciplinary boundaries. Discovery scientists may have the opportunity to interact with employees in medical affairs, regulatory affairs, and marketing. This requires excellent communication skills. I am extremely personable and articulate, with the ability to relate scientific information to laymen as well as professionals. I understand the bottom-line philosophy, deadlines, budgets that are part and parcel of working in this industry. I realize that science is an international endeavor and this is a global industry, therefore I am willing to relocate wherever necessary.
Though detailed and comprehensive, neither this webpage nor my resumé can fully demonstrate the intangible qualities that make me a good scientist. Character, personality and the ability to work in a team environment can best be evidenced in a personal meeting. I would welcome an interviewing opportunity.
Sincerely,
Max Luis Tejada Ph.D.

Short Notes:
Here is a summary of my doctoral and post-doctoral work. In short, the last seven years boiled down to a page on the web!
I hope that I have succeeded in highlighting a little bit of my technical expertise in this section. In addition, there are some answers to some frequently asked questions in this section. Of particular interest is whether I am capable of working abroad. (the short answer is ... YES!)
Enough Bill Nye the Science guy stuff, here are some answers to some seldomly asked questions:
Who is Max Tejada anyways?
Well, I was born on the doomed planet of KRYPTON
... wait, that wasn't me.
I was actually born
in Perú to ...
What do I do in my spare time ?
Well,
at least once a day hit the gym. You see, I have a passion for resistance training.
You might say that
I am fixated on size, the more the better. I have been bodybuilding
for about 14 years now. In that time I have gone from being a fat kid with low
self-esteem to being a very large man with low self-esteem!
I also like to kick back and relax. I do some cooking (only occasionally if you ask my wife!) because as luck would have it, I love to eat. You know - to keep my weight up. Yeah, that's it. Here are a few of my favourite Peruvian recipes.
I believe that everyone needs to know what is going on both locally and internationally. Personally, I devote the first 2 hours of my morning scanning the general news headlines, the business headlines and lastly, the sports headlines. I have compiled a list of my favourite news sites.
My wife and I also love to walk our to yellow Labrador retrievers, Dante and Vazco. I look forward to our morning and evening walks together. This really forces us to slow down and enjoy the sunrises and sunsets - its kind of therapeutic. We are extremely proud of our boys. Dante's photo has appeared in numerous dog calendars and publications while Vazco became a Canadian show champion with relative ease.

I am also a member of the

This page is dedicated to my wonderful
mother Emiliana Zenovia Torres Quiñones. She
passed away two years into my Ph.D. and for a while I lost the will to continue
my studies. I
have dedicated my dissertation to her memory. I miss her more than words can ever
describe.
