I'm beginning to think the Bush men, starting with George Sr., were dropped on their heads as babies by drug-addled nannies. How else to account for their histrionics when it comes to drugs? George Sr. addressed the nation from the oval office to boldly proclaim a new "War on Drugs", a bag of crack in front of him as a prop to show the horrid insidiousness of this drug, which had infiltrated every aspect of society. The bag before him, we were told, had been seized from a dealer across the street from the White House. Aside from the fact that, with a Bush in the White House, the national motto should be, "The More Drugs, The Better," it should be noted that Bush's prop had not come from across the street. What's a little lying demagoguery when you're dealing with a threat like this? Now, we've got George Jr. tying the War on Drugs to the War on Terrorism. Terrorists, we're told, finance their activities through the production and sale of illegal drugs. Every American who tokes up or snorts up actually helps finance the terrorist activities against us. Of course, Georgie doesn't call for the legalization of drugs to take this profit center away from our enemies. We need stepped up interdiction, even though the past many decades have shown that to be an unmitigated failure. Remember, our president is beholden to corporate donors who either manufacture equipment to be used in the War on Drugs or have stock in those companies. Just let "Doobies R Us" start throwing millions at the Republican Party and see where the rhetoric goes.
Just as conveniently, Dubya's terrorist connection only involves illegal drugs, not drugs used illegally. The latter would bring his daughters' activities' into the spotlight, along with niece Noelle, whose inept attempt to score some Xanax would make any self-righteous junkie snort with derision (no pun intended).
George Sr.'s War on Drugs called for zero tolerance against drug use. Now, with Noelle's arrest, it has become a "problem" which affects all families. Still, Noelle was released without posting bond, a nice little perk most families affected by this problem don't experience. I've been trying to find takers for a bet on whether Noelle Bush will ever see the inside of a jail cell, but, so far, I can't get a bite.
