The first ESCANAVERINO that I have
on my list was named Andres ESCANAVERINO Relio. He was my
great-great-great grandfather.
Andres was married to
Simona de Linares in 1830 in the island of Menorca in the
Balearic Islands. They had two children, Gines and
Luisa.
When his first wife,
Simona, died, he set sail on his vessel, the "Gran
Canaria" to Cuba. There he met Barbara Volcan
Medina from the Canary Islands and married her in
1842.
With
this second marriage came three (3) more children, Andres,
Maria-Luisa and Antonio. Andres Escanaverino Volcan
was my great-great grandfather. He married Francisca
Francisco (cool name huh), and they had ten (10)
children. One of them was Andres Escanaverino
Francisco. He married Rosa Amador, here is a picture
of them (circa. 1910).

Andres and Rosa had
two children, Roberto and my grandfather, Andres Eugenio
Escanaverino Amador
(05/13/1908-06/04/1975)
who married my grandmother Ofelia Baldomera Bustaque Dalmau (02/27/1917-09/15/1995).
Andres and Ofelia had
two children, my father, Andres Tito Escanaverino Bustaque
and my aunt, Ofelia Margarita Escanaverino Bustaque. My dad
married Maria Gonzalez Paz (my mom), and they had 2 kids,
myself (Danay Margarita Escanaverino Gonzalez) and my
brother, Eugenio Escanaverino Gonzalez.

As of the date of this
writing, September 2001, I have not yet found any ancestors
on the ESCANAVERINO tree older than Andres Escanaverino
Relio.
I am currently looking for him through some parishes to find
where he came from. Our family legend says that he
actually came from an Italian heritage (it sounds right for
this last name).
I think he may have
sailed form one of the Mediterranean islands over to the Balearics
which are also in the Mediterranean but belong to Spain.
We'll see.
