EMPOWERMENT |
Masiphakimisane Women's Group was formed by six Dakawa entreprenuers in 1995. The business specialses in both traditional and contemporary beadwork and traditional clothing. They can handle big and small orders. Some of the products they produce are: traditional necklaces such as isidanga and ithumbu; bags made out of umbaco; contemporary designed jewelry and bead pins; and crocheted sun hats, floor mats and carrier bags. The Masiphakimisane Women's Group also does commissioned work such as beading and embellishing existing items and creating new items in both fabric and beading. Apart from craft production the Masiphakimisane Women's Group are also involved in the training of school children and emergent crafters in a bid to create more work opportunities for people in their area.
