Kim out of town until Sunday night; Li campaign kicks off advertisement blitz
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP)__ Boba Party presidential hopeful Andrew Kim will be flying to Washington, DC Wednesday for religious purposes and will return Sunday night, the day before the primary. Kim will likely suffer because, although he holds endorsements, he has no significant ground organization. Meanwhile, his opponent, Newton Li, has strong organization with a full campaign staff and an advertisement sector headed up by Joyce Lee. Li is kicking off an ad campaign (ads can be seen on his page) that will try to swing momentum back in his favor. Senior political analysts are concerned with the way this race is shaping out to be. The Boba Party seems to be very divided, further exacerbated by Ke Xie and Rebecca Tsang's intentions to run as alternative choices in the general election. This means that Xie and Tsang are each starting seperate parties, thus automatically withdrawing their respective endorsements of Li. However, a large turnout is still expected for the Feb. 9 primary, as Kim and Li go head-to-head for the Boba Party nomination. To join the General election, you have to regsiter with the Daily 1835 by tomorrow (2/4). Only one more individual may join the race.

Li-ving it up: Ad campaign earns four endorsements; Ethridge to run in G.E.
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP)__ Boba Party presidential candidate Newton Li seems to have regained his footing in the Boba primaries to be held on February 9. Li launched an ad campaign (viewable on his campaign site) and has scored two senior class encorsements. Susanna Song and Chris Wang have thrown support for Li, strengthening Li's tight hold on the upperclassmen. "These endorsements from seniors are further proof that Li appeals to the mature voter who is more focused on issues and not on squabbling," campaign manager Stanley Wong said. Meanwhile, the General Election is now CLOSED. The maximum number of parties has been formed, as nobleman William Thayer Ethridge has thrown his hat into the ring, forming the Three-Leaf Party. The list of candidates now includes Andy Kim/Newton Li (Boba), Ke Xie (independent), Rebecca Tsang, Nicholas Collins (Miller Lite), and William Ethridge for the general election to be held late February.. Xie officially kicked off his campaign today. Read about it here. Kim is due to leave Chicago for Washington DC this morning, returning Sunday night in time for some eleventh-hour campaigning. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine," a raspy-voiced Kim said (Kim lost his voice campaigning). "I may have lost my voice, but the people have not. They can go out and speak on February 9 against corruption." (Kim has launched an ad campaign of his own) Meanwhile, ?some high-profile leaders of AACM (mainly one Eunice Byun) are getting upset that they have not been approached with endorsements. Anthony Sham, area coordinator, is one of them. "Seems like my vote isn't important, seeing as how no one has approached me for an endorsement," said Sham. "I think i'll vote Miller White this year." Li then secured Sham shortly thereafter, earning him an edge in endorsements. But be careful with the endorsements, warns Xie. "Endorsements don't matter in the end," Xie said, while campaigning at Allison Hall Tuesday afternoon. "It's all about screen names. And I plan on having a lot come election day."
Kim scores first graduate endorsement
BOSTON (AP)__ The Boba Primary has officially gone national. Boba Party presidential candidate Andrew Kim's trip to the East Coast has already paid dividends, as 2003 graduate Seung-Joo Lee, a well respected member among Boba males, has announced his formal endorsement of Kim. Also known as Ryan Lee, Seung-Joo is currently bumming around in the Boston area after completing 4 successful years at Northwestern Universty. He was also in the HPME program while enrolled at Northwestern, which is somewhat of a blow to opponent Newton Li's HPME trifecta. In other news, Kim has posted his agenda and speech for all his supporters and constituents to see. It is listed here. Analysts are calling it one of the most well-written speeches ever written and are expecting a bounce in the polls from it, despite its epic length.
