A new generation of angry teenagers would create a style that would cross the "heavinest" of "heavy metal"and the attitude of "Punk rock", to create a style now know as "Grunge."
Seattle would be the pool from where most of the "Grunge" bands with come from. Among the names taht were the most popular at the time, we find, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. This style had an imidiate succes with the kids of the era, but unfortunitly wouldn't of lasted long, the style dyed out considerably after the death of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain. most bands of taht ear called it quit a few years after, leaving very few still active.
The 90's didn't only offer "Grunge," a few bands would decided to keep the tradition of trying to be the "Heaviest" band alive, one name comes to mind, Pantera.
The mid 90's would prove to be a bad time for Hard rock, many kids turn away from it, after Cobain's death. Once again a new style appears, something called alternative, a style that englobed everything that involved guitar. Lots of people would turn away from this style some to go to a totally different style of music and the others just started listening good old metal from the past decades or just experimental brands of Hard rock incluiding, "Power Metal," "Death Metal," "Black Metal" and lots of brands of "Metal" from europe.
Rare would be any bands that would dare anything new, during the 90's, one of the bands that will of marked the history of hard rock is Rage against the machine, they would influence a infinite number of bands being created at the end of teh decade. The create a brand new style having a rapper sing on high powered guitar riffs.
