The new school

At the turn of the millenium we find a new crop of bands, holding seven string guitars and holding many new problems and issues to scream about.

Many of these bands started mid 90's or end 90's, but only bursted on the scene 2 years ago. They created there own style of hard rock, often not wanting to be called metal, new names came up for this style, "Pimp Rock," "hybrid" and "Nu Metal." Higly influenced by Rage against the machine, they incorporate rap and metal elements together, giving the intensity of rap, but still keeping the heavy sound of "Metal."

Among the bands taht made this style popular we find, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Soufly, Deftones and Incubus. Each band of this style holds a different twist, some applying more rap then metal or vice versa. Some bands now even have two singers, making the rap element even more dominant in the bands.

This style was higly critisizized at its beginings, thus fastly carved its palced in history even if they haven't been around alot. many of these still have much to bring entering the new millenium. Wich leaves us to wonder, what will happen to hard rock in the centurys to come?
