Soufly was created by ex Sepultura guitarist max cavalera. Selpultura was a band that higly influenced Korn. Korn became a band that higly influenced the creation of Soulfly.
Soufly first saw it's birth in 1997, at this point and time Cavalera was having one of the most difficult times of his life, the death of his stepson had made him angry and confused. He also left Selpultura, a band he had been active with for over 15 years.
Soufly blended english and portuguese lyrics into there songs to create an intensity never before seen. The anger of Cavalera fuels each of his songs.
Soufly has proven to be a great band, only with 2 albums out, they are considered to be among geniuses of music. Cavalera often compared to bob Marley, let it alone be the fact that they both came out of third world countries. Soulfly's journey as yet to begun and will continue to explore new grounds in the world of "Heavy" music.
