Bold and bright colors are a common motif showcased throughout my work. Color is too valuable not to be enjoyed. Whether it's what you wear, or what you paint, take the leap and go for colors that make your heart soar.

As you may also be able to tell, I love to draw and paint portraits. My favorite portraits to create on my own time are portraits of people that inspire me. Two of the portraits are shown above of people that inspire me. The pencil drawing is a portrait of Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach. I was amazed at how gracefully she handled the mishap of her runner up accidentally being announced as Miss Universe. The other portrait is of a singer/songwriter that I admire, Kali Uchis. She has such a distinct, unique vocal style and visual aesthetic.

The portrait of Penny Singleton, an old Hollywood actress, was commissioned by my dear high school English teacher, Jacob Beecher. That portrait is one of my all-time favorite pieces that I have ever created. I almost didn't want to give it away, but I knew that he would adore it (and he does!). I remember how much it meant to me that someone I looked up to so much trusted me enough with their money to create something special for them.

Another painting I am extremely proud of is my Conchas and Coffee painting. This was commissioned by my uncles. My uncle Chuy is from Mexico, so he wanted something inspired by his heritage. This painting was very time consuming, yet very fun to complete. The part that was the most technical was the tapestry that the mugs and the conchas are sitting on. I painted on so many individual loops of the tapestry, trying to make it look as accurate as possible. I am very satisfied with how it turned out!
