CLOSE TO WAR2003-02-19 After a long break, I come back behind my desk with more disturbing news about Iraq. I thought that matter would have resolved, but still it is on the main agenda of USA and their allies. Most people are very worried, because everyone sees that America doesn’t want to disarm Iraq, but simply want to change government there. From human rights point of view we should press on Iraqi people for change, but we not sure about resolving that problem by using force. Looking on the US government, we can see an instant pattern for doing everything what is possible to discredit Bagdad to make excuse for attacking Iraq. Nobody is blind to see that, because of these circumstances, war with Iraq is inevitable. No one will be crying after the regime in Bagdad will be
changed. But we have doubt and scepticism about how many innocent
people, particularly children, have to be sacrificed in the name
of liberty and freedom. President George Bush is talking now in the
name of “liberty and democracy” in our society. That will be very
interesting how the USA will achieve that goal. Everyone would like to see the
first democratic country in the Middle East. Specifically people of
Kurdistan, who are fighting for their rights to exist from deadly
occupation under Iraqi and Turkey’s Governments. What will the USA do after war,
about liberty and freedom for Kurds. Most likely nothing. Will America
and their allies understand exactly what Kurds deserve for their
decades of sacrifice? We have a very good example of failure in Kosowo, where
Albanian people didn’t get their freedom. Will Turkey allow Kurds
coexisting next to their border, if for decades they have done everything what is possible to destroy Kurds culture and rights to
freedom and liberty. That’s why I don’t like when politicians talk rubbish
about freedom and democracy, because they don’t care about these main
principals of liberty. War with Iraq will be a very interesting and dangerous
episode in our life. After “September 11” people said that world peace not be
the same any more and Iraq will be outcome of that. Who or what
will be next? United Nations are so divided that sooner or later
integrity and liability of all nations will fail. If we look around the world we
can see how human rights are disintegrating. Terror, discrimination,
hatred, slavish horror of life are the most common style of our
politics these days. It will be very interesting to see, how politicians who
are now pushing for war and destroying Suddam Hussein’s regime, rebuild
democracy in post war Iraq. Reconstructing life there, especially
trust, hope, faith and confidence in human race, will be the most difficult
task to achieve. Politicians should learn more about it, because only
peace and reconciliation should be the winner after any war, but I have doubts
about that. Please go to see my previous articles: 2. VIOLENCE Come back to home page |
