Michael Michalis

Michael was born in 1967. He studied trumpet from an early age with a range of teachers including Esko Lopponen (Finland), Aaron Dimont (Russia), and Kalman Kovacs (Hungary). Following membership of the English Schools Symphony Orchestra, and the Cyprus Youth Orchestra he went on to perform with the Cyprus Army Military Band and work regularly with the Cyprus State Orchestra.
He has played jazz for more than ten years as a member of jazz groups including New Dimensions, and the Ambodis Quintet. He has performed at the Cyprus Jazz Festival in 1999, and in December 2001 he was a member of a jazz sextet which performed original jazz compositions with the Cyprus State Chamber Orchestra. As well as having participated in several jazz clinics, he has also featured on various albums and now appears with many different bands in concerts across the island of Cyprus.


Kelly Alijani

Kelly was born in 1976 and began playing the French horn at the age of eleven. Whilst studying at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama she won the Walsall Young Musician of the Year. In her final year at the JGSMD she won the Brass prize and then went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and complete her Bmus degree course where she also attained her Licenciate of GSMD. In 1998 she went to the Royal Academy of Music to study for her Postgraduate Diploma. Since completing her studies Kelly has been a member of the British Rock Symphony, The Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sutton Coldfield Chamber Orchestra and the Trinity Players amongst others. Since September 2001 she has been a member of the Cyprus State Orchestra, currently as Principal Horn.

Gareth Griffiths

Born 1987, in a mineshaft in mid-wales, and worked as a pit-pony until the age of twelve. Later went on to be first kazoo in the local WI choir, before re-training for his position as lead castanet player in the Nairobi airport welcome band. Was sacked from this position after an unfortunate incident with the Pope, and decided to hide out in Cyprus for a couple of years, where he continues to masquerade as principal trumpet in the Cyprus State Orchestra.
