Alcoholism
Usually, alcoholics begin as mere 'social drinker' perhaps to identify
with friends and peers, or out of sheer curiousity or as a menu
for leisure and relaxation. But, it can easily becom habit-forming
and soon it will be a drink too many with personality deterioration
and resulting in accidents, broken relationships, hurt and failures.
At some stage of the addiction, the person may inculcate denials
and would attribute it to to pretenses of blaming family, their
job or life in general.
Unless you admit that there is something wrong in your life, there
is little that we or anyone can do to help. Real change must begin
from your ownself and not from anybody else. If you really want
to kick the habit then open your mind and your heart for God's power
to change you.
The Bible is pretty vehement against
alcoholism. Ephesians 5:8 says, Do not get drunk on wine,
which leads to debauchery, and Thessolonians 5:5,7 says,
We do not belong to the night or to the darkness . . . those who
get drunk, get drunk at night. Hence, there can be no justification
to alcoholism and Satan loves to decieve you that a little alcohol
is good for your health but then little by little, we lose our self-control
and it is alcohol that controls us.
Steps to becoming a teetotaler :
(a) No more alcohol. Sever it from your system and your thoughts
altogether.
(b) Get into
a Detoxication center nearby.
(c) Quit all past relationships who have the same habit.
(d) Develop new relationship with someone who understands your past,
like Alcoholics Anonymous or any support group.
(e) Watch out for relapses.
(f) Get into a local church and claim on the blood of Christ to
purge you and to restore you to ***** standing with God and man.
(g) Contact us for personal counselling
and prayer-guidance.
