Drug
Addiction
Drug
abuse or substance abuse is one of the worst enemies of our youth
today. Many have died of over-dose and from AIDS because of this
addiction and everyday a number of young people are being introduced
to this menace quietly but surely. These drugs or substances come
in many forms, from glue to cough syrup to heroin, brown sugar
to acid. Some take these drugs because of friends-pressure or
due to disappointments, insecurity, stress, to boost performance
in sports and many a times out of curiousty and usually for the
disallusions that "getting high" brings. Once hooked,
it takes a lot of professional help and can be very painful and
difficult, and for many we have met, it ended in death.
Many
detoxication and rehabilitation centers know that an addict mustnot
only be helped physically through medical supervision but also
on other aspects of their lives - their mental, emotional, social,
and spiritual aspects must be attended by a trained Counsellor
and preferably a Christian Counsellor. A strong support system
is what is mostly needed to initiate rehabilitation and a successful
restoration. Issues leading to addiction needs to be ironed out.
Steps to be taken :
(i) Check in to a detoxification/ Rehabilitation clinic immediately.
(ii) Support Group must be mobilised
(iii) The addict must face responsibilities for his/her addiction.
(iv) Biblical counselling can be initiated.
(v) The addict must abandon all people and environment that can
tempt him/her back to addiction.
(vi) Check into a local church and new vocation.

Having problems with yourself, physically, mentally, spiritually,
emotionally or in a way that you cannot describe?
Well, do not be alarmed, most people have one kind of
a problem or another at one point of time or another.
Did you know that each one of us had needs of varying
kind as long as we live, basically of our human limitations.
Read the newspaper, watch the news, listen to your family
or friends. Everywhere, there are questions, hurt, sorrow,
pain and trouble. Although some problems are not of a
spiritual nature, humans are in a quest for peace, real
love and contentment, and the answer is lodged deep within
our soul.
Counselling is as old as human history itself. We seek
help everytime, from our parents, teachers, friends, elders,
etc., and to a certain degree doctors have counselled
many as they treat patients. A complete diagnostic process
of any ailment would show thatthe problems presented by
the people who are sick had much to do with worries, depressions,
fears, anxieties and inner struggles.
We at the Children and Youth Evangelistic Association
(CYEA) believe, with all our hearts, that the good news
of the Gospel is in the person of Jesus Christ, who alone
can meet any need and help for anyone who comes to him
with an open mind and heart. He can transform our perspective
of life and activate the Holy Spirit so that we can receive
forgiveness, enjoy freedom from guilt and fear and possess
exhilirating contentment all around.
Receiving
Christ
Each individual is important in
God's eyes. God never intended for anyone of us to be
far away from him. "For God so loved the world (
that means You! Yes, YOU and us) that he gave his
only Son, that whoever (again YOU and us) believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life (beginning
right now)." John 3:16. "I tell you
the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who
sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he
(again YOU and us) had crossed over from death
to life." John 5:24
If
you want this peace that many of us are already enjoying
and if you don't want to be left out, then confess
your wrongs to God; with every bit of sincerity repent
of all your sins; then receive Jesus Christ
as your personal Saviour and Lord and be born again.
Do not forget that "Salvation is found in no one
else, for there is no other name under heaven given to
men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
and that name is "JESUS CHRIST" .
If
you want Jesus to come into your life, then pray this
little prayer:
"Father, I confess right now that I am a sinner
and I no longer want to be so. I believe that Jesus Christ
died for my sins and his blood now washes me clean. I
accept him into my life as my only Saviour and Lord, and
in his name I am born again today ____________ (date).
Thankyou Jesus. In your name I pray. Amen"
