Hobbes - (AKA jelly Belly, Mr. Hobbes, The Alpha Male, Lard Ass, Little Man, etc. etc.) Sign - Aquarius - 5 1/2 yrs. old Always the first to the freshly filled food bowl, this boy feels he needs to eat to keep up his well-rounded masculine shape. His quiet nature is a front for being the mastermind behind the Tri-Ferretal Commission. (See the Weezil Pages of Doom, under F.E.R.T. Members! Link is on the OTHER LINKS page!) His dashing good looks have won the hearts of many a jill he has met, save for his determined conquest Shelby. He feels if she could just love him, then she would change her mind about men! Being the Alpha Male of the clan, he oversees all antics without getting involved and getting his paws dirty. Manual labor is such a bore to him. Fluent in many languages including Cat, he can wheel and deal with all animal members of the house to help further his cause. |
The
real Hobbes, is one amazing boy! Named after the instigative tiger
Hobbes in the Calvin and Hobbes cartoons! He does fit that tiger's
personality so well. One always witnesses him goading the others into
doing something stupid and he looks on with that perfected, "Who
me?" look. But, he is a wonderful ambassador of ferretdom, so
kind gentle and mellow, plus not to mention so beautiful, well all
ferrets are beautiful anyways. He learned the art of Ferret Zen from
our first ferret Weasle. Weasle was his little partner in crime and
taught him all the ropes on getting extra raisins from us. Weasle
past away sadly a few years ago at a good old age of eight.

Here are some of Hobbes's baby pictures, out of all my ferrets he was the only ferret I've owned so far that I have had since he was such a little baby. And so! I have little itty bitty Hobbes pictures to share with you! You also get to see him meeting his mentor Weasle for the first time! Like Yoda to Luke he taught my boy Hobbes very well in the art of being a Fert-i-knight. Hobbes recently had adrenal surgery, and later surgery for insulinomia, it is common for both ailments to happen at the same time. Right now he is a very chubby whopping four pounds! His lovely freckled nose you see has nabbed him fourth place in the Blackest Nose Competition at Maine's First Ferret Frolic last year. Though he demanded a re-count, he said someone was using brownout but that was never proven! He also snagged First Place in the Paper Bag escape contest! He hates paper bags, and the minute he was put in there it was no time flat he came out. While others were busy sniffing around inside the bag, another fell asleep, and yet another decided it was a great place to go to the bathroom! Nope, not him, he shot out of there like a rocket! Hee hee! |
Don't be fooled by these overly cute looking pictures of Hobbes. If there is one thing he guards with a peculiar jealousy it's his stuffed animals. God help the person who touches his beanies! Or the coveted squeaky Dino and Whale! Nips and chomps will befall you! His other turn ons mysteriously are toilet paper tubes! We once found a stash of forty of them behind a dresser! And here I was all the time thinking my husband was actually changing the empty rolls! Tsk! Tsk! |
To the left is Hobbes doing his Poncho Villa impression! He's such the little bandit! He wants all the socks in the US! Right is is first place ribbon from the paper bag escape contest! |
