OUR MISSION STATEMENT
As young adults, (singled, married, divorced or widowed), we are committed to support our Catholic identity through faith development, community service, and social activities.  Our ministry consists of young adults (in their 20s, 30s, 40s and the young-at-heart)  and parishioners from the Alameda communties of SAINT ALBERT THE GREAT, SAINT BARNABAS, SAINT JOSEPH BASILICA, SAINT PHILIP NERI, and other Catholic churches and communities from throughout the Bay Area.
PRAYER and SPRITUALITY
There is a noticeable young adult involvement at the Sunday liturgies around our deanery.
At the 7:00 p.m. Candlelight Mass, held every Sunday evening at St Joseph Basilica, young adults are highly active in liturgical roles, liturgy preparation, musical arrangement, intimate environment, hospitality planning, and so much more to make this gathering special for everyone.
We coordinate get-acquainted, "theme-based" potluck gatherings for young adults (e.g. AUGUST LUAU, PICNICS, BARBEQUES, MEXICAN, ASIAN, ITALIAN and other ETHNIC-THEMED POTLUCKS).
We collaborate with other young adult ministries and parish organizations on projects and events ( e.g. DIOCESE OF OAKLAND: CATHOLIC YOUNG ADULT TRIVIA CHALLENGE)
Many young adults participate in the religious education programs focused on young adult faith and life issues (e.g. R.C.I.A., ADULT CONFIRMATION, etc.)
There are marriage preparation and enrichment programs focused around the needs of couples.
The baptismal preparation programs address the faith formation needs of young adult parents.  There's also a support group for young adult families with children not ready for schooling.
Our small faith-sharing group meetings focus around themes of interest to everyone.
Young adult teachers and volunteers help with the wide range of religious education programs for children and teens.
We have valuable resources for study on Catholicism and young adults who can help find them (e.g. LENDING LIBRARY)
Together, as young adults and our community, we attend a variety of prayer services (e.g. ST. JOSEPH TAIZE PRAYER 2nd Friday every 3 months).
Workshops are provided on how to meditate and pray.
There are retreats designed to help young adults grow spiritually (e.g. TWILIGHT RETREATS, ADVENT RETREATS).
Sessions for young adults on justice issues are scheduled (e.g. "CATHOLIC CURRENTS" DISCUSSIONS).
We connect young adults with service organizations (e.g. ST. VINCENT DEPAUL SOCIETY, MIDWAY SHELTER OF ALAMEDA, HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, RENEWED HOPE, ALAMEDA MUTI-CULTURAL CENTER)
Some of us participate in fund-raising activities to support organizations (e.g. AIDS WALK SAN FRANCISCO), and we even sponsor our own fundraisers for different charities (e.g. DANCES)
A number of young adults have leadership positions in parish committees and ministries (e.g. CYA STEERING COMMITTEE, LITURGY COMMITTEES, PASTORAL COUNCILS).
The young adults in our community get involved in parish festivals and celebrations (e.g.EASTER EGG HUNTS, EL RANCHO, ST. BARNABAS FESTIVAL, ALAMEDA 4TH OF JULY PARADE).
Some of our most popular social activites include EASTBAY EATERIES(dining-out), MOVIE NIGHTS, HIKES, TRIPS, TOURS, SPORTS: ECUMERICAL SOFTBALL(Alameda Interfaith Softball Champs '96 '97 and '98), OPEN-GYM VOLLEYBALL, PARTIES (CHRISTMAS, SUPERBOWL), and much, much more.
