Chi Upsilon Sigma, National Latin Sorority Inc., has a history that extends deeper and more profoundly than names and dates.  We are founded on the principles of individuality, pride, trust, dignity, womanhood, and love in order to achieve a unique sisterhood.  We welcome all women interested in sharing, as well as, maintaining their cultural customs, values, and beliefs.

Alpha Chapter was founded on April 29, 1980 becoming the first Latin Sorority at Rutgers University.
CUS was born at a time of great change, when women began a dramatic rise for self-representation and organization.  Therefore, it was felt that a brother organization was unnecessary to attain our Sisterhood.  This concept has only been reinforced in the minds and remained true in the hearts of all sisters throughout the generations.  We are devoted to our mission, to create a political, educational, social, and cultural awareness not only amongst ourselves but in addition to the Rutgers Community and that outside the university.  We promote this vision through workshops, speakers, and community as well as philanthropic projects.  Chi Upsilon Sigma, or as known to the sisters of CUS, Corazones Unidos Siempre, translates into a promise of love, pride, and respect for all sisters and in this belief we keep the CUS dream a reality.
