As a chapter, we do various community services which service and bring awareness to our community. Through these community services we fulfill our Founding Mothers' goals of enriching the community through our social, cultural, educational, and political activities.& By achieving these goals we can help strengthen our community for all of us.& Our organization was founded on the ideals of educating and assisting women, minorities, as well as our community at large. We have donated time and money to Breast Cancer Awareness, AIDS Awareness, The American Heart Foundation, as well as local institutions such as Elija's Promise soup kitchen, Francis Parker Nursing Home, YES Afterschool Program, and several local elementary schools and churches, to name a few. In 2002, Alpha Chapter received the award from our Grand Chapter Board for dedicating more Community Service hours than any chapter nationally.
Chi Upsilon Sigma supports a different cause every year by designating it as our national project. Chi Upsilon Sigma's National Project for 2007 is "Girls Inc." Girls Inc is a non-profit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Beginning in 1864, Girls Inc has provided vital educational programs to millions of American girls, especially those in high-risk, underserved areas. Their innovative programs help girls confront subtle societal messages about their value and potential, and prepare them to lead successful, independent, and fulfilling lives.

Chi Upsilon Sigma's National Philanthropy is the "I Have A Dream Foundation."
The I Have A Dream Foundation helps children from low-income areas reach their educational and career goals by providing a long-term program of mentoring, tutoring, and enrichment with an assured opportunity for higher education. Local I Have A Dream projects adopt an entire grade from an elementary school or an entire age group from a public housing development. They work with this group of children, the Dreamers, and their families year-round from their elementary school years through college.
