| Smoking: Smoking is permitted, with a few requirements. Any adults wishing to smoke, may do so, away from the youth activity. Additionally, upon completion of your "break," make sure to bring the remnants back with you for proper disposal. As scouts, it is our duty to leave the campsite, activity field, etc. in better condition than we found it. Trash: If you choose to bring additional food or beverages (i.e. chips, sodas, juice boxed, etc.), it is your responsibility to make sure that the wrappers and empty containers end up in the trash and NOT on the ground. "Pick it up. Don't pass it up." If you see such items on the ground, even if they are not yours, pick them up! Supervision: Each parent is technically responsible for thier child(ren). Please do not allow your child to run rampant through the campsite or nearby wooded areas. The use of any stick, for purposes other than roasting marshmallows or for use as a hiking staff is prohibited. NO STICKS! Children running through a campsite may trip over tent stakes, knock tents down, run into others, or inadvertently find themselves on the wrong side of the Cub Master. The latter of these examples should be avoided at every opportunity. "Doing Your Duty:" Families that attend Pack events should feel compelled to remain for the entire affair. All too often, it seems the same few people are forced to complete all dismantling and packing of gear at the end of an event. Every Attendee, no matter how brief their stay is expected to assist in the setup, running, teardown, cleaning, packing and completion of every event. In the event that an early departure is absolutely necessary, please advise the Camp Master as soon as possible for atlernate/additional duties. A Checkout precedure is in place. Every family must checkout with their respective Den Leader prior to departure. Cups & kits are a must: In an attempt to abide by the practices of "Leave No Trace" and the "Outdoor Code," each attendee is asked to acquire and maintain a mess kit. Each kit should contain a plate, bowl, cup and dinnerware. A wash station will be made available for the cleaning of all kits. Napkins are generally provided by the Pack, however, use of disposable plates, etc. should be avoided. Proper attire & gear: Close-toed shoes are required at all times, unless otherwise advised. You may want to bring bug spray. CUPS are the responsibility of each individual. You must bring your own, non-disposible, drinking utensil. Youth lights out: 9:00 p.m. Every campout unless otherwise pointed. There are very few exceptions to this guideline. Leave the fire alone: For safety purposes, we have a Fire Marshall assigned to each campout. This person is BSA trained and accepts the responsibility for any fires built throughout the weekend. If you would like more information about how to become such an individual, please see the Fire Marshall at the next campout. Personal fires are prohibited. Use of Facilities: As tempting as it may be at 3 a.m., or any other time, fight the urge to "relieve oneself" in close proximity to the camping area. Health hazard and animal attraction are the main concerns. Please make use of the identified facilities or designated areas. Where to "pitch" it: Upon arrival to the campsite, please check in with the Camp Master for your tent site placement. This is done to provide for an efficient and orderly campsite arrangement. Safety and convenience are our two main goals. Duty Roster: Please check the Duty Roster, posted on the rear door of the Pack trailer, to familiarize yourself with the duty assignments for scouts and parents. "Den Assignments" and duties pertain to both youth and guardians. "Dry Campout:" This indicates that, due to BSA policies, alcoholic beverages will not be permitted. No food in tents: The last thing you want is a warm furry creature joining you in the middle of the night. Keep the goodies locked in you personal cooler, outside the tent. |
