CTCA TIPS: MAY 2209
MAY MEETING: Will be held on Thursday, May 7th @ 7:00pm at Rob Santoro's house, 2617 Tennyson Avenue. All are welcome. BLOCK CAPTAINS NEEDED We still need captains for Temple Drive, 200-300 blocks of Bard and 100 block of Spohn Road. This is a very rewarding opportunity for you to take an active role in our community. If interested please contact Bev Piscitelli 610-670-1009 or email [email protected]. Here is a list of Block Captain responsibilities: 1. As part of the Sunshine Committee, you notify the Sunshine Chairperson (Anne Larky 610-927-0820) of any new neighbors, hospitalizations, obituaries and birth announcements. 2. Ask your neighbors to support our fundraisers- Daily Lottery in February and Kauffman's Chicken Barbecue in May. 3. Donations for Thanksgiving Baskets. 4. Update community telephone directory every three years. SUNSHINE NEWS Flowers were sent to Pat Rakowieki of 240 Bradley Ave. Pat’s mother passed away. Flowers were sent to Santina Tobias of 129 Spohn Rd. Mrs. Tobias/ husband, Jesse passed away. Flowers were sent with our wishes for a speedy recovery to Gordon Holmes of 2611 Whittier Ave. and Noel Loder of 110 Shakespeare Dr. who are both home recovering from recent hospital stays. If you know of a neighbor who has been hospitalized, has had a death in their immediate family or better yet, a new baby, PLEASE let me know. . Anne Larky ([email protected]) or 610-927-0820. TIPS DELIVERY Thank you to those who volunteered their time and energy to deliver the Tips. Listed below are the months and volunteers for those months as well as any open dates. The Delivery Person & their helper each earn $20 for delivering the Tips. The deadline for the May Tips is April 20th. ADDITIONAL HELP. . . I’m still happily taking names of any kids in the neighborhood looking to earn some cash while helping their community with the chores we are too busy (or just unable) to do. We’re looking for babysitters, snow shovelers, grass cutters, leaf-rakers, etc. YOU HAVE NEIGHBORS WHO NEED YOUR HELP!! Please email Anne Larky at [email protected]. I will print any corrections in the TIPS. (Along with my apologies. . .) It may be annoying when your neighbor calls to tell you what your dog just did in his yard, but how bad is a late night phone call when you’ve left my garage door open?? Please let me make it right. It might matter someday to someone. Why should you become a member? Because your membership fee pays for.. -the utility bill for the playground that your children or grandchildren may use -the Easter Egg Hunt -the Santa Run- It's nice to receive a knock on the door from Santa's helpers -Discounted Arena Football tickets -The Sunshine Committee- We are able to send flowers to our neighbors in their time of need -The Christmas Bowling Party, this year it was FREE of charge to all CTCA members; something fun and FREE during the holiday when everyone is watching their spending. Next year we may not be able to provide this event free of charge. Besides these benefits there is also fundraising that takes place that your membership fee helps to support:

Box 2052, Sinking Spring, PA 19608 USED INK CARTRIDGES UPDATE Remember to hold on to your used ink cartridges!! I will still have the drop-off box on the porch through the summer (237 Keats Dr). This is a big help toward reducing our costs. Staples will accept ANY BRAND cartridge, even if they’re leaking. (I would prefer a baggie, though and so would the people at Staples, if this is the case. . .) Thanks again for all your help! KAUFFMAN’S CHICKEN BBQ: DATE: Saturday, May 16th TIME: 10:00AM to Noon WHERE: Spring Township Building Parking Lot PRESALE COST: $5.00 ($6.00 on the day of the sale) which includes ½ chicken and a baked potato DEADLINE: Thursday, May 7th Block Captains will have the tickets for pre-purchase sales in April. We must presale 500 chickens for Kauffman’s to come. I need 4 volunteers to help me between the hours of 10:00AM and Noon. We will be providing a delivery service to the homebound due to an illness or disability. Delivery will be around 12:15PM. Please inform your Block Captain or call Beverly @ 610-670-1009 if you need this service. Also call me if you need tickets or can volunteer for those two hours. Tennis baseball tournament, children games, playground activities, flag football, silent auction, chipping contest, manicures, massages, “fade” hair cuts, music, food & family fun! Money raised for this Fund is used to provide “family fun days” for local families in need and also supports a scholarship for a Wilson football player.
