National Cry for Children

It does matter...

The day's last rays of sunshine were finally peeking through the clouds. A small boy, kept inside all afternoon by a storm, was making his first trip to the beach today. As he got near the water's edge he froze in horror. He looked around and saw thousands of starfish all washed up on shore.

Frantically he began running from one to the next, picking them up and throwing them back in the water. He was tireless in his efforts. His mission was one of life and death.

Soon a man approached him and asked what he was doing. The little boy replied that he was saving the starfish and gestured (while he continued to work) at the animals littering the shore.

"You don't understand," the man said, "This is just a part of nature. Sometimes starfish just die, little boy, we can't stop that. What you're doing doesn't matter."

The little boy reached down and picked up another starfish and tossed him into the sea. He looked up into the old man's eyes and said, "It mattered to that one."

We live in time unlike any other in History, but at the same time frighteningly similar to others. We live in a time when more marriages end in divorce than stay together, and when the very institution of marriage is under direct attack We live in a time when our children are regularly and systematically used as pawns in a power struggle. A power struggle that destroys families and futures, and all for the profit of a select few.
Divorce kills more children than drunk drivers and handguns combined. In fact every 48 minutes another American child commits suicide because their parents are either getting divorced or getting remarried. Divorce is the main contributing cause for truancy, poor academic performance, teen pregnancy, teen suicide, teen violence, rape, drug and alcohol addiction, and poverty. Yet as a people we turn a blind eye as if somehow not seeing the truth will change what it is.
The time has come for every American to stop and take notice. If we are going to stop this trend, steps must be taken today. Please take a few minutes to learn about National Cry for Children and how you can help.
