Bottlenose Dolphins |
Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops Truncatus) are not regular visitors to the Bay of Gibraltar, in fact since 2001 we have only had five encounters. These are robust animals and can grow to up to 4 metres. They are quite common in the Straits of Gibraltar and on occasions pay us a visit. |

Our first encounter was with a group of nine animals who were just crossing the bay at its entrance. Luckily, one of them decided to give an aerial display. |

Our subsequent encounters both involved only two animals, and in both occasions foraging was the predominant activity. On our last two encounters we had a group consisting of two mothers with respective calves. This group remained in the bay for two consecutive days. |
