| SOLDIER Military service is an excellent way to prove your loyalty to your race. The biggest downside to being in the Military is the chance of death. Fighting in battles and combat is very risky. However, standing around defending a wall is boring. So, you have to choose risking your life or being bored. Being a soldier, however, is the best way to get on the Leader's good side. If you do good work, you'll likely get promoted. The higher your promotion, the more your pay and the less risk and boredom you have. SOLDIER'S SERVICES The duty of those in the military is to either attack other races' territories to help your race expand its power, or to defend your territory from attacking races. Your position is up to the government to decide, as well as your pay. Any order given to you from above must be obeyed. Those in the Military also often do other odd jobs for the government at certain times. SOLDIERS BUILDINGS People in the Military don't pay for the buildings they reside and train in; the government does. These buildings are of importance to the Leaders more than soldiers. Soldiers can sleep in tents, but at the same penalty cost that normal people get from not sleeping in a house (no +1 ACS bonus). 1. Standard Barracks: Time Required: 11 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Profession Level Required: 2 ~ Build Cost: 60 The Standard Barracks are normal Barracks where soldiers stay. They spend most of their off-duty time here, mainly to converse with other soldiers, to eat, and to rest. Each Standard Barrack is much larger than is probably needed, housing up to 50 troops. A barracks is needed within reasonable distance of a post, so that troops can easily be dispatched. Carpenters usually charge around 160 rupees. 2. Training Grounds: Time Required: 9 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Profession Level Required: 2 ~ Build Cost: 30 Training Grounds are places that new recruits go to become soldiers. No person can become a soldier without at least 3 days of training. Having a lot of training grounds isn't really necessary, so building one or two is acceptable. They sell for a relatively cheap 110 rupees 3. Barracks/Training Combo: Time Required: 16 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Lvl Required: 3 ~ Build Cost: 75 This combination of a Barracks and a Training Ground sells cheaper and takes less time to make than both combined. Good for an area that you want a training ground in. Sells for around 240 rupees. 4. Treetops Barracks: Time Required: 13 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 4 ~ Build Cost: 65 Treetops Barracks can only be built in the Southern Swamp, and only the Deku or those with Level 2+ Climbing can climb the large trees to get to them. Treetops Barracks are out of harms way, safely tucked up in the heights of the trees. They can hold up to 40 troops. A great place from troops to gather and rest after the area is in danger. Sell for around 190 rupees. 5. Underwater Barracks: Time Required: 13 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 4 Build Cost: 65 Underwater Barracks are about similar in benefits as Treetops Barracks, only they are situated in the depths of the Great Bay and are used by the Zora. Sell for around 190 rupees. BECOMING A SOLDIER Soldiers come in several different classes, all of which vary depending on your race (see the Races pages). To become a soldier of one of these classes, you must have the required skills. Ask your Leader or a high-ranking military officer if you can join. Soldiers get paid a salary by the government, which will probably raise as you perform well. Soldiers don't need to pay for and living costs, and they get to travel a lot. The downside is the risk, but for a little excitement, becoming a soldier may be the answer. Soldiers rely on their strength in Combat to survive. FARM OWNER Farm owners are agricultural workers of Termina. They grow crops that feed and nourish the people of Termina, as well as give the cooks material with which they can make delicious food items. Each race has two different kinds of crops they can grow. One can be harvested every certain number of days, and one can only be harvested in the Fall (every day). Crops go bad if not eaten within 5 days of the harvest. Farmers must spend at least 2 minutes a day sowing and watering each pathc of crops on their field. Ikana Farmers also sell specially made Scythes to be used as weapons. FARM OWNER'S CROPS Terminian Crops 1. Corn: Growing Time: 4 days ~ Harvest Number: 4 ~ Planting Cost per Patch: 3 rupees ~ Rec. Building a garden is basically like building a patch of land to grow crops on. People with gardens must purchase seeds from you if they want to grow crops (seeds sell for the planting cost of crops and do not cost you anything to get). WARES BENEFITS People are not required to eat, but it is beneficial to their performance in Combat if they do. For eating a fresh-grown crop, a player will receive a +1 DS bonus. To maintain this bonus, they must eat at least another fresh-grown crop every 3 days. FARM OWNER'S BUILDINGS As you may have guesses, Farm Owners work on farms. The different sized farms allow for more room to grow crops and more special features. Each farm comes with a farm house, fields, and any special buildings mentioned in the description. 1. Small Farm: Time Required: 9 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Profession Level Required: 2 ~ Build Cost: 50 The Small Farm is a good starting point for aspiring farmers, since the others take a while to build and are considerably more expensive. The small farm has field space for 5 patches of crops. 2. Large Farm: Time Required: 15 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 3 ~ Build Cost: 70 Large Farms offer more than the Small Farm. Not only are there 10 patches to grow crops on, you also receive a Storage Celler where you can store crops year-round until you sell them, without any chance of them becoming spoiled. 3. Extra Large Farm: Time Required: 20 days ~ Materials Needed: Stone ~ Prof. Level Req.: 4 ~ Build Cost: 90 The largest of all the basic farms, Extra Large Farms hold room for 15 patches of crops. It also has a Juicery Building, and unique to this size, a windmill. Windmills spin wheels and gears that make water flow to all of your crops, so you only need to spend one minute tending each patch. Instead of a carpenter, a Stonebuilder builds this. FARM OWNER EXTENSIONS 1. Extra Patch: Time Required: 3 days ~ Materials Needed: None ~ Prof. Level Required: 3 ~ Build Cost: 8 rupees The special thing about this extension is that the Farm Owner can make it himself. It takes three days and 10 rupees to get the land ready and fertile for growing crops. It's less expensive than a new building, but overall will cost you more. 2. Storage Cellar: Time Required: 7 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 3 ~ Build Cost: 20 rupees The Storage Celler is a great addition to any Farm Owner's farm. With it, you can store crops and they won't ever go bad. 3. Windmill: Time Required: 12 days ~ Materials Needed: Stone ~ Prof. Level Required: 4 ~ Build Cost: 40 rupees Windmills are like hirings a worker on your farm. As the wind blows, the mill turns and the gears inside cause water to shoot out into your fields, cutting your time spent there from 2 minutes per patch to one minute per patch. Windmills are also incredible feats and tourists will love to see them. BECOMING A FARM OWNER Since most everybody wants to have extra DS, most everybody wants the Farm Owner's wares. However, if they want more DS, they'll eat at a restaurant. But even chefs and cooks must buy crops from Farm Owners as well, so you get money no matter what. Crops sell for cheap so most players can afford them, but since so many will likely want them, it makes up for it. If you get enough money, it might be wise to hire a Worker (see below) to tend the fields for you. Farms in Termina Field often get the most business, as any race can go through the area. However, Termina Field is also free from any rules or safety that each race's territory provides, making it more dangerous to set up a farm there. If you do decide to have a farm in Termina Field, be sure you can defend yourself and buy Locks for your doors and integrate stone into your house. RANCH OWNER Ranch Owners cater to nuturing various types of animals. Some animals produce products that you can sell, some can be sold themselves. Animals need places to stay, so it'll take a rich rancher to be able to house them all. For each animal building built, the Rancher gets two of that animal to stay there. Ranch owners rival farmers in some aspects because they sell foods, but ranch food must be eaten once every 2 days to get the DS bonus.Chef-prepared ranch food is no different from farm food. The breeding times are set times; having more animals will not improve them. The only way to improve them is to build multiple buildings, in which case you can produce two at the same time. It takes 5 minutes each day to care for each type of animal. RANCH OWNER'S WARES 1. Horses: Horses are very valuable creatures. All of the races except Gorons can ride them, and their speed is much increased when they do. Horses allow for quick transportation, more safety while traveling, and possibly improved Combat performance. If you have 2 horses on your ranch, you will gain 1 new horse every 5 days. Horses are very rare and thus sell for a high price, somewhere in the range of 100-200 rupees. It cost 3 rupees per day to feed and care for your horses. 2. Cuccos: Cuccos are very similar to chickens of the real world. They produce eggs every other day.Eggs sell for 2-4 rupees andserve as normal ranch food. If you have 2 Cuccos, a new one will be born every 3 days. Cuccos are nice sources of food and should sell for between 30-60 rupees. It costs 1 rupee per day to feed and care for Cuccos. 3. Dogs: Dogs serve no helpful purpose, but are popular pets among the human races. If you have 2 Dogs, a new one will be born every 2 days. They sell for around 20-40 rupees. It costs 1 rupee per day to feed and care for Dogs. 4. Cows: Cows are large animals that produce milk. Milk is sold for 2-5 rupees, serves as normal ranch food, and is stored in a bottle or can be drunk on the spot. Cows produce milk every day. If you have 2 cows, a new one will be born every 4 days. Cows are expensive creatures, selling for 50-100 rupees and costing 2 rupees per day to feed and take care of. 5. Fish: Fish can be eaten (like normal ranch food) or sold as pets (especially popular among the Zora). Sell for around 2-4 rupees and cost 1 rupee per day to take care of. A new fish will be born every day (if you have 2 breeding fish). 6. Guays: These bird-like creatures are popular pets among the non-human races. They sell for around 15-30 rupees and it costs 1 rupee per day to take care of them. A new one is born every 2 days. WARES BENEFITS Any food that comes from an animal (eggs, milk, or fish meat) gives the character +1 DS for two days. This is a bit lower than the three-day period for farm grown food, thus the prices should be a bit lower. Horses effect your travel speed and if you are the right level in horseback riding, will allow you to participate in Speed Combat. RANCH OWNER'S BUILDINGS 1. Normal Ranch: Time Required: 8 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 2 ~ Build Cost: 45 rupees The Normal Ranch is the basic place you can own. It provides you with a ranch house for living, pastures for training, grazing, and possible festivals, and room for different buildings. All ranchers need to buy this building, then extend out as needed. Sells for around RANCH OWNER'S EXTENSIONS 1. Guay Building: Time Required: 4 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 2 ~ Build Cost: 25 7. Dog Racing Track: Time Required: 7 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 3 ~ Build Cost: 50 Dog Racing is a popular sport, and Animal Trainers from around Termina come to enter their dogs. Most of the time, however, the ranch dogs are used. People bet on which dog will win, and get a certain number of rupees or prize depending on the place the dog comes in. This is a game, so if you want to run it, you'll need someone with at least Level 1 Game Proprietor to run it. If you do it yourself, you cannot also sell things at the ranch. 8. Horse Racing Track: Time Required: 10 days ~ Materials Needed: Wood ~ Prof. Level Required: 4 ~ Build Cost: 60 One of the most popular sports in Termina is horse racing. This is done on Horse Racing Tracks. They take a long time to make, but can full in large crowds. Obstacles can be placed on the tracks to spruce things up. Like the Dog Racing Track, you need a Game Proprietor to run it. BECOMING A RANCH OWNER Ranch owners aren't as popular as farm owners when it comes to selling food, so most of their money is made through selling animals. Also important are the Dog and Horse Racing games. You can have people bet on them, and if they're popular enough, even implement a cover charge. Races are more popular when owners and riders submit their own animals to race. You can encourage people to do this by offering a prize. Holding your own unofficial festivals at your ranch can be a good way to increase business. VINEYARD/ORCHARD OWNER The Vineyard/Orchard Owner is currently a profession you cannot select. WORKER Workers are people who help out other people in their jobs, particularly Farmers, Ranch Owners, and Vineyard/Orchard Owners. Workers do not have their own buildings, wares, or services. They do the work for people in exchange for pay and/or a home and food. Being a Worker isn't the most prestigious or high-paying job, but the work isn't all that difficult. If you want to be a Worker, go around to farms/ranches/orchards and ask if they need any help. Those that are particularly prosperous might be inclined to hire you. |
