I Love My Dogs

I love my dogs, this is their home.
It's my hope they'll never roam.
My faithful friends, they are the best.
This is their home, YOU are the guest.
If to you, they are a peeve,
Then by all means,
please feel free to leave.

Things We Can Learn From a Dog

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air & the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

When it is in your best interest, practice obedience.

Let others know when they have invaded your territory.

Take naps, and stretch before rising.

Run, romp and play daily.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If you want what lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.

When you are happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

No matter how often you are scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout.

The Life of a Puppy

This morning, I woke up & kissed my dad's head.
I peed on the carpet, then went back to bed.
"the life of a puppy, oh my, this is great".
Then I thought about breakfast, "I hope it's not to late".

Mom took me outside, we walked for awhile.
This never fails to make mamma smile.
I sniffed of everything, that we did pass.
I ate something weird- it gave me gas.

I'm sure God loves me, I know this is true.
He gave me so many great things to chew.
Rugs, plants or rocks, I really don't care.
What I truly like best is Dad's underwear.

That obedience book, was sort of yummy.
Though it didn't sit well on my poor puppy tummy.
I threw up a bit , but that was alright.
When Mom found it late, I was well out of site.

I made streamers of T.P. while running full speed.
Mom is pretty quick, but I was in the lead.
I flew under the bed, and Mom flew past,
She stopped- shook her head, and breathed,
"You're too fast".

Mamma later phoned Daddy, and said "it was frightening".
That afternoon, she was sure I'd pooped lightening.
She'd sit at the computer, while I chewed on the cord,
She thought I was mad, but I was just bored.

When mamma had enough, couldn't take anymore,
That's when my tushy got shoved out the door.
I love it inside, but outside is best.
Layed in the cool grass and had a good rest.

That didn't last long, there was too much to do--
Can't quite remember where I hid Daddy's shoe.
I found an old bone, and scratched at a flea.
I watched the dumb squirrels as they jumped in a tree.

I barked at kids, when they got off the bus.
I can't figure out why this makes mamma fuss.
I barked at the neighbor, I barked at the wind.
I barked and I barked, till Mom yelled, "COME IN".

The sun dipped in the west- soon Daddy would come!
I sure love my daddy: we always have fun.
I barked at my daddy, then turned on my charms,
I woo-wooed, "Hello", then jumped in his arms.

Sitting under the table-- it's so hard to wait.
Daddy slipped me a goodie , right off of his plate.
I raced through the house, and scattered my toys,
Ricocheted off the furniture, and made lots of noise.

Mom found her purse--the one I abused.
Daddy let loose a chuckle. Mom asked, "Amused??"
I cowered down low, I must be in trouble.
Dad said, "Wasn't my boy, it must be his double!"

Mom turned off the tv, and said, "Time for bed".
Dad said, "let's go boy", and patted my head.
I go in my spot, between mom & dad.
I thought bout my day and what fun I'd had.

Mamma kicked out my bone from the covers below,
Then let loose a sigh-- a sigh deep and low.
She gave me a kiss, and snuggled me tight,
And whispered so softly, "my darling good night".

Dog Spelled Backwards

A faithful dog will play with you,
and laugh with you, or cry.
He'll gladly starve to stay with you,
nor ever the reason why.
And when you're feeling out of sorts
somehow he'll understand.
He'll watch you with his shining eyes
and try to lick your hand.

His blind, implicit faith in you
is matched by his great love-
The kind that all of us should have,
in the Master, up above.
When everything is said and done
I guess this isn't odd.......
For when you spell "dog" backwards
You get the name God.
