A little background...

I am a 32 year old guy living and working in the Big Apple. I am a theatre professional (a lighting designer) and for the last two years have worked full-time for NYU running three theatres for one of their fine arts departments.

I live in Brooklyn, at the lower end of Park Slope and have two cats, an on-again/off-again relationship, and lots of family and friends who are pissed off at me for not calling enough. What can I say? I've been busy!

I have lung and digestive problems, related to a little thing called Cystic Fibrosis; it makes travel a little more challenging, particularly when explaining my condition to new friends.

I do not consider myself a biker; though others seem to think so. That said, my ride is a 2002 Harley Davidson 1200cc Sportster Custom. Her name is Roxie and she runs like a dream, even loaded down for touring. I have taken several long trips and am fairly prepared to load up and head out in only a couple of hours. In town, Roxie is a narrow-waisted, fat-assed babe with big headlights. I get a lot of compliments on her. On the road, she sports a tour-pak off a dresser, a tank-bag, and a windshield in addition to her usual tool bags and hard saddlebags. She runs a Baker 6-speed transmission, which really helps keep the gas mileage reasonable.

This site is a story of my trip to the 63rd annual Sturgis rally and the points beyond. Many of you have heard some of this story from Marje, which she posted at Sportster.org

BTW, Sportster.org is a great site. If you own a sporty and haven't been to the site, yet, you owe it to yourself and to your bike. (The preceeding plug was brought to you by the letters X and L and the number 1200; my throttle-hand was not threatened in any way nor did I find one of my cats shaved as a warning of what could happen if I didn't note my due appreciation of Doug's fine site.)
