This page is for various console and computer emulators that run on legacy computers and their associated operating systems. Most of these are for NES, SNES, and Atari 2600 here, as that's what I've used the most. This is also to make sure many creator's early interesting efforts at emulation don't get lost to the history.

GeneCYST BLoodlust Software's Sega Megadrive/Genesis Emulator for DOS. Runs great on a 486 DX2-66 or faster with full sound. VESA Compatible.
NESticle version x.xx BLoodlust Software's Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicom Emulator for DOS. One of the formative and most popular emulators of the mid-late 1990's and also a pillar for the start of the "NES ROM Hacking" scene. To play Dragon Warrior IV on this you need the "Bad dump" 1 megabyte version of the ROM.
Virtual Game Boy Game Boy Emulator for DOS. Uses FM Synthesis (adlib) for Sound.
Z26 Atari 2600 Emulator 1.58x Best DOS Atari 2600 Emulator still around. Engine came from Paul Robeson's A26 but was made better with a menu system and a plethora of options. Runs at full speed in picture mode 0 with a 486 DX4-100, and has full SoundBlaster Sound Support and Pitfall II support.
ZSNES SNES Emulator for DOS/Win9x - runs at 2/3 the speed on a 486 DX4-100 and has full sound support. both a DOS Port and Win port are in this package IIRC.
